Referencing Styles

 APA(American Psychological Association)


in-text citation style uses the author’s last
name and the year of publication.
 MLA(Modern Language Association) in-text
Citation include the last name of the author
followed by a page number enclosed in
parenthesis. If the authors name is not given,
use the first word or words of the title.
 Harvard is very similar to APA but only
applicable in citing the work of 2 or more
authors. However, the word “and” is use
instead of comma.
 Chicago and Turabian are two sepparate styles
but very similar. It includes two systems of
citation: a note and bibliography system and
the author-date system.
Paraphrasing, Summarizing and Direct Quotation
 Paraphrasing involves putting a passage from
source material into your own words.
 Summarizing involves putting the main idea(s)
into your own words, including the main
point(s)
 Direct quotations must be identical to the
original, using a narrow segment of the source.
