COOGLE

There are many media in CALL and IBLT class. One of media that I have used is
Coogle. Coogle is free mind mapping/brainstorming application website. In this
application someone can produce beautiful notes, quickly, and easily. Teachers can
create easily material with unlimited diagrams and chart. Teachers or students can
choose different colors for each strand or their mind map, the text size can be altered,
links can be added and videos embed when their add a video link, teachers or students
can also add images. Furthermore, student can invite another students to collaborate
on their mind maps or work assignment with their in real time. After teachers or
students make mind map or brain storming in coogle, they can be downloaded as PDF
or PNG or shared via a link on social media.

There are many benefits use coogle in teaching and learning process. One of the
benefit from coogle is a application website to summarize and represent visually what
the students learned. It can improve the students’ memory of factual information.
Coogle common uses for Curriculum mapping, Class idea sharing, Project ideas,
Collaboration of ideas, Sharing of ideas with others and Graphically shows
connections.

There is competencies or skill which can be taught using coogle application website.
For 10th grade Senior High School. KD that used in teaching learning process with
coogle application are KD (Knowledge) 3.4 Membedakan fungsi sosial, struktur teks
dan unsur kebahasaan beberapa teks deskriptif lisan dan tulis dengan memberi dan
meminta informasi terkait tempat wisata dan bangunan sejarah terkenal, pendek dan
sederhana, sesuai dengan konteks penggunaannya and KD (Skill) 4.4.2 Menyusun
teks deskriptif lisan dan tulis pendek dan sederhana terkait tempat wisata dan
bangunan bersejarah terkenal, dengan memperhatikan fungsi sosial, struktur teks dan
unsur kebahasaan, secara benar dan sesuai konteks.
 Language skill from KD that can be apply is writing descriptive text. Skill writing
is suitable to apply KD 4.4.2 using coogle application website. In KD contain the
word “menyusun”, it means skill writing use to apply this KD. With using coogle as
teaching media, the students can make diagram to simplify their written.

Language component from those KD is simple present and noun phrase. Simple
present and Noun phrase is suitable for those KD, because in those KD there word
“explain or give information about places”. Noun Phrase can be used to explain
specific places.

The ways of used coogle in teaching and learning process. First, The teachers make
sure the students bring laptop or gadget that have internet connections. After that,
students have to go to google and search coogle.it . Second, teacher ask students to
make account in coogle.it. After the students have account, the teacher give
assignment to make descriptive text about places. Before it become descriptive text.
The teachers ask students to give the title which places that students want to describe.
For example ; Way Kambas National Park. After that, the teachers ask students to
make 3 chart below the title. For examples : The first diagrams explain the location of
Way Kambas National Park. The second diagram explain about any species in Way
Kambas National Park. The third diagram explain the entrance tickets and facilities in
Way Kambas National Park. So, using coogle as media in teaching learning process
especially in writing skill will make students easier to write complete descriptive text
by creating a diagram first. Teacher can also monitor and check the grammar that
students use on the coogle application.
