Church of God M-WPS Office
Church of God Mission International, as it known today, grew from a very humble beginning in 1962 as a
prayer group first named Calvary Fellowship at a shop on Ivbizua Street, off Mission Road. It was officially
inaugurated in 1965 by Rev. Edgar Perkins.[2]On October 26th 1968, Rev. Perkins approached the
Assemblies of God to release Benson Idahosa, then a Sunday School Superintendent, to oversee the
prayer ministry. The fellowship moved to No. 26, Forestry Road, Benin City with Pastor Benson Idahosa
fully in-charge. The membership of the fellowship grew numerically. Pastor Benson Idahosa decided to
build a church and this began his building ministry. He moved the members to Iyaro Church and on 18th
of September,1974. The church was registered under the Land perpetual succession Acts and Certificate
number 1245 was issued. By the time Church of God Mission Iyaro was completed the membership had
risen tremendously.
STATEMENT OF FAITH
We believe that the Holy Bible in its entirety is the inspired word of God and the only infallible rule of
faith conduct.
1We preach Christ's birth, works, teachings, crucifixion, resurrection, ascension, second coming,
millennial reign, white throne judgment, new heaven and new earth
7We believe in the baptism in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues and in the gifts of
the Holy Spirit (Acts) and other gifts listed in I Cor. 12 and Romans 12.
9. We believe in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ as literal and visible as His first ascension to heaven.
Acts 1:9-11
11We believe in monogamy and that marriage is binding for life, (Mk.19:9) and if the unbelieving partner
departs, I Cor. 7:15 applies.
12We believe in water baptism by immersion. Acts 8:38, 39.
13We believe Jesus instituted the Lord's Supper and so should be observed. I Cor. 11:23-24.
