Fabrication, construction, baking, travel, what do they all have in common?

They all use fractions, the advantages of using fractions are tools that simplify ratios

which abstract with variable and rational functions in determining the accuracy of the

measurement of an object.

The use of fractions is around us every day, such as constructing a track frame and mount

for a CP-50 surface drill rig.

In preparations for fabricating the frame, materials

have to be measured whole to determine the amount of

material to be used. The image displayed demonstrates the

precise use and accuracy of fractions in developing a frame

to support and maintain its 450,000 lb weight. The main

reason fractions used in the image is for structural support

and positioning on the subframe to prevent positioning error

and faulty support.

The image displayed fractions used in

determining bolt length and tread spacing. The

importance is to secure the object in position, such

as a tire nut to lock it in place rather than loose to

prevent mechanical error and injury.
