When I was looking for pictures to use I wanted to find some that showed the realness of

childhood cancer. I think that most of the time cancer is portrayed by a smiling child with a

shaved head. We obviously know that it’s bad… I mean a lot of people die from it and there is

no cure. I don’t think that people realize the reality of how bad it really is. The social issue I was

thinking about doing is the shortage of the cancer drug Vincristine. The reason why all of the

images I used were children was because Vincristine is most commonly used in Pediatrics. The

last image represents the fact that there is no replacement for this drug. As of right now, there are

no other alternatives for Vincristine. No short term solution. Those kids who need this drug are

being forced to go without it, or use it sparingly. I think that these images are very powerful. The

sight of a bunch of sick little kids can easily persuade people that something must be done. It is

so sad to me that people could just stop making this drug, knowing that it costs so many lives.

Hopefully, looking at these photos, it is pretty clear that something must be done to fix this

problem.
