Chloride test

Buffer solution:-

Mix 54 g of ammonium chloride (NH4Cl) in 150 ml distilled water. Mix well

it. Then 350 ml ammonia. Make total volume 1000 ml by adding distilled water.

Indicator:-

Take 0.5 g of Eri chrome black ” T ” and mix with 50 g of Sodium

chloride.

EDTA solution (Ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid)

Add 18.6 g of EDTA in 1000 ml distilled water. This solution normality is

0.05 N.

Take .5 ml of zinc chloride sample. Add 50ml distilled water. Mix well it.
Then add 10 ml of Buffer solution and add some Chrome black T indicator.
Titration with EDTA solution End point Purple color to Blue. Note
burette reading.

Calculation:-

(136.4 x V) / (0.5 x 0.05)

=13.64 x V g/later

Where;

136.4 is a factor

0.5 is quantity (ml) of zinc chloride sample.

0.05 is normality of EDTA solution.
