SCHOOL SITUATION
Tanval Elementary School is having a fluctuating enrolment due to the sudden
transfer of some pupils in other schools. The main reason of their transfer is that
their parents worked in the city proper and they cannot attend their children’s
schooling so they tend to transfer them for easy access of their child’s education.
Almost all of the pupils in Tanval Elementary School are recipient of Pantawid
Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4P’s) wherein this program supports the pupils
education until their legal age (18 years old). Tanval Elementary School has three
(3) teachers, two (2) teachers are handling combination classes and one (1) teacher
who is handling multigrade classes. We have two (2) buildings but one of this is not
functional. It is quite dilapidated since this building wasn’t used for a long time. The
teachers decided to make this building a storage room for gardening tools. The only
functional building was divided into three classrooms from Kindergarten to Grade VI.
We also have two comfort rooms which are also functional for teachers and pupils
use.
Tanval Elementary School is 25 kilometers away from the city proper. We travel
by means of the so-called “habal-habal” more or less two hours depending on the
weather. The source of income of the constituents in this barangay is “pagkigi” of the
“abaca” fiber. Most of the children are pursuing their studies because of financial
problem, child labor and early marriage. Poverty pushes the children to work in the
fields so that they will have something to eat for the succeeding days to come. After
finishing the elementary level, they were not able to continue their secondary
education because of financial crisis. We are looking forward for the more developed
and improved Tanval Elementary School in the near future through the collaborative
efforts of School Head, teachers, parents and Brgy. Officials.
