Day Celebration
About the Day: Srinivasa Ramanujan was born
on 22nd December 1887 and died on 26 th April
1920. In order to recognize his immense
contribution towards Mathematics, the
Government of India has decided Ramanujan’s
SRINIVASA RAMANUJAN birthday to be celebrated every year as
IYANGER National Mathematics Day.

Mathematics is more than dry text books and exercises and proofs, it is a world of
great excitement and joy. To popularise the significance, importance and contribution of
India towards Mathematics, the Department of Mathematics is celebrating National

Mathematics Day on 17 February, 2020. The event will gather eminent speakers
engaged in teaching Mathematics.

On this occasion we have organised a quiz competition for undergraduate students.

Any pair of two undergraduate students can take part in this competition. We cordially
invite participation from your institute.

GUIDELINES FOR THE PARTICIPANTS OF THE QUIZ COMPETITION

1. The competition is for the undergraduate students (Topics – Contribution of Indian mathematicians towards
Mathematics, real and complex Analysis, Algebra, ODE, PDE, undergraduate syllabus). Any pair of undergraduate
students can take part in this competition.
2. No two groups of students from the same institute will be permitted to take part in the quiz competition.
3. Competitors are requested to enlist their name by phone : +91-8731858273 and +91-7005415260 or by email :

4. Prizes will be distributed on the same day and certificate will be given to all the participants.
