 UAP RDC -2 WITH UAP BACOLOD , UAP NEGRENSE AND UAP MT.KANLAON

UAP Professional Development Council and the Regional District C-2 organized
a Continuing Professional Development Seminar held last October 28,2017 Saturday
from 7:00a.m. – 7:30p.m. at the Padre Pio Pavilion, Nature’s Village Resort Hotel,
Talisay City, Negros Occidental. The seminar RESPONSIVENESS TO THE
CHANGING TIMES: Promoting the Architecture Practice and Design was
attended by 134 participants, a mixture of UAP National Officers and local chapter
officers, members, special participant guests from other UAP Chapters, UAP
Graduate Auxiliaries and the organizing committee and the Professional Regulation
Commission Monitor Ar. Jan Ed Francis Espiritu.
There were participants UAP Bacolod, UAP Negrense and UAP Mt.Kanlaon,
UAP-GA LCC Bacolod Chapter, UAP Dumaguete and UAP-GA Dumaguete, UAP
Iloilo Chapter,UAP Kadayawan Chapter, UAP Makati Chapter, UAP Makati CBD,
UAP Bohol Chapter and PIID Negros.
The seminar registration started early in the morning at 7:00a.m. and the
registration committee welcome the early participants from UAP Dumaguete Chapter
and UAP Iloilo Chapter who travelled from distant places just to attend the seminar.
Among those who welcomed the early registrants were District Director Felipe
Jocson, District Special Committee Nilo de Oca, UAP Bacolod Chapter President
Jonathan M. Iral and UAP Bacolod Immediate Past President Jennifer Benedicto-Iral.
The PRC Monitor Ar. Jan Ed Francis Espiritu was also among the early to arrive in
the venue.
The event was opened by a prayer led by Ar. Raymund Joseph Ureta UAP
Bacolod Vice President for Programs and Development. After which the UAP Protocol
was done. The participants was then welcomed by UAP RDC-2 District Director Felipe
Jocson.
The first speaker in the morning was on other than UAP National Secretary
General Renato A. Heray, FUAP, AA, PALA who was introduced by UAP Negrense
Chapter President Rogely Gambito-Lora. Sec. Gen. Heray discussed the topic
Introduction to Landscape Architecture. The participants were noticed to be very
attentive during the entire seminar proper as the speaker Sec. Gen Heray did an
interesting presentation. After his talk several participants actively asked questions
regarding the topic. One of those who asked a question was Ar. Norman Campos who
asked about the method of estimating landscapes and as well as the compensation
for the services rendered.
The second speaker was PRC CPD Council Chairman for Architecture
Hon.Robert Mirafuente, FUAP, ASEAN Ar. APEC Ar., Green AP, MBDGSC. He
discussed the Continuing Professional Development Implementing Rules and
Regulation for Architects. He emphasized the importance of learning from the

 seminars and not to focus on the CPD points garnered. The participants were noticed
to be enlightened by talk and most of their queries directly answered by Ar.
Mirafuente. Participants actively ask for more clarifications about their queries and
were answered promptly by the speaker.

The third speaker was UAP National Executive Vice President Benjamin
Panganiban. He discussed R.A. 9266 The Architecture Law and other related case of
UAP. The status of RA 9266 from October 2002 until its recent status in the year 2017.
The presentation inspired many of the participants to do their share in the promotion
and implementation of the RA 9266 in their locality.

The fourth speaker was Ar.Maricar de Dios. An expert in Perspective

Rendering. She is involved in various project not only local but also in the international
scene like New Zealand, Hongkong, United States of America, and United Kingdom.
She share her rendered projects, practical tips on the programs she uses for
rendering. She also showed some processes in the making her work. Many interested
architects asked her about the business of perspective rendering and the
opportunities of working in the international scene.

The seminar was made possible by the efforts of UAP Professional

Development Council headed by Ar.Virgilio Andres and the officers of UAP RDC-2.
This seminar was coordinated by UAP Bacolod Chapter Immediate Past President
Jennifer Benedicto-Iral and Executive Director Virgilio Andres since May 2017 and
was finally realized in October 2017 upon the acceptance of the responsibility by the
UAP RDC-2 district officers.
The following were involved in the organization of the seminar. District Director
Felipe Jocson, Seminar Organizer UAP Bacolod President Ar. Jonathan M. Iral,
Seminar Coordinator and in-charge of registration, speakers, food and venue Bacolod
IPP Ar. Jennifer Benedicto-Iral. Mt. Kanlaon Chapter President Andrew Penalosa
registration, Ar.Nilo De Oca Special Committee and Transportation, Ar.Roger Aguilar
District Secretary and Master of Ceremonies, , IPP MK Ar.Jico Monte Transportation
Committee, Negrense Pres Ar.Rogely Gambito Lora tokens, Ar.Andrew Danoy,
Ar.Dawn Aranez –On-site registration. Evaluation Committee Ar.Romeo Lavilla and
Ar.Raymund Joseph Ureta. Acknowledged are also the invaluable service of our UAP
GAs Jireh Tolentino,Leorem Gilar and Gerlie Samodio. Mr. Mars Cuevas of the UAP
National Secretariat is also recognized for his efforts in the application for
accreditation of the seminar.

SUMMARY:
ARCH. HERAY USED “NATURE” AS HIS LANDSCAPE PROJECT DEVELOPMENT
INSPIRATION AND EVEN THE SHAPE, DIRECTION AND COLORS USED DEPICTING WATER
(RAIN) & NATURE AS WORTH CONSERVING & SUSTAINING. TIRE PLAYGROUND WAS
RAIN, RAINDROPS & RIPPLES-INSPIRED WHILE THE HOME FOR THE AGED HAD MOSTLY
GREEN THEME WITH A NATURAL VENT/INDIRECT LIGHTING AS ROOF FEATURE.

SUMMARY:
AR. MIRAFUENTE WAS ABLE TO EXPLAIN IN DETAIL THE OPERATING GUIDELINES FOR THE CPD.
THE TALK WAS WELL PRESENTED WITH FULL USE OF POWERPOINT SLIDES. QUESTION AND
ANSWER BETWEEN THE SPEAKER AND THE DELEGATES WAS DIVERSE AND INTERESTING WITH
THE SPEAKER BEING ABLE TO ADDRESS THE QUESTION S BASED ON THE GUIDELINES SET AND
HIS OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. AR. MIRAFUENTE STRESSED THE IMPORTANCE OF NOT
LOOKING INTO THE POINTS OF THE CPD BUT IN HOW THRU THE CPD ONE CAN DEVELOP ONE’S
SELF.
