AFFIDAVIT OF WITNESS

I, CLEO JANE MENDOZA Y TORRES, 22 years old, single, student and a

resident of J. de Veyra Street, Guadalupe, Cebu City, Cebu. After having been duly
sworn to in accordance with law do hereby depose and say:

That on or about November 6, 2019 I attended a forum in the University of

the Philippines on the human cost of the Philippine Drug War as an officer of our
organization, Human Rights Org. After the forum I saw Mr. Pedro Santos, a
schoolmate of mine, being escorted by two men wearing white shirts and fatigue
pants. Since I was near them, I was able to hear the men speaking harshly to Mr.
Pedro Santos about his posts criticizing the drug war. I followed them and saw Mr.
Pedro Santos being led to a white van. I was able to note down the license plate of
the van as XAS-9000. I informed Mr. Pedro Santos’ mother, Mrs. Juana Santos
about the incident.
That on or about November 9, 2019, I received a threatening text message
telling me not to get involved with the incident regarding Mr. Pedro Santos. The
text message read as “Ayaw nag apil apil anang kaso ni Pedro Santos”. The
following day, on or about November 10, 2019, I received another text message
informing me that I would be in danger if I continued to meddle in the case
involving Mr. Pedro Santos. The second text message read, “Kung gusto paka
mabuhi, ayaw nag apil apil sa kaso ni Pedro Santos”.

AFFIDAVIT OF WITNESS

I, MARIA CHRISTINA OCAMPO Y GARCIA, 39 years old, married,

professor at the University of the Philippines and a resident of Osmena Street, San
Antonio, Cebu City, Cebu. After having been duly sworn to in accordance with
law do hereby depose and say:

That on or about November 6, 2019 I moderated a forum at the University of

the Philippines regarding the Human Cost of the Philippine Drug War. I became
concerned when two men clad in fatigue approached Mr. Pedro Santos, a student
of mine. I approached the trio to inquire about the purpose of their presence. When
I came near them, I overheard one of the men accusing Mr. Pedro Santos as an
enemy of the government. I was about to call security but the men quickly whisked
Mr. Pedro Santos into a van which was parked outside the auditorium. When I
heard that Mr. Pedro Santos did not come home that day, I contacted his mother,
Mrs. Juana Santos and told her of what I saw that day.
That on or about November 8, 2019, I received two anonymous text
messages threatening me if ever I were to meddle in the Pedro Santos case. The
first text message read ‘Bisag maestra paka, wa kay lusot ug mag apil apil ka anang
NPA nga si Pedro Santos’. The second text message read “Buhion pa ka namo ug
di ka mag labot labot aning samok”. I also received a phone call from the said
number but I did not answer it.

AFFIDAVIT OF WITNESS

I, JANE DEE CRUZ Y REYES, 26 years old, single, student and a resident
of R. Palma Street, Mabolo, Cebu City, Cebu. After having been duly sworn to in
accordance with law do hereby depose and say:
 That on or about November 14, 2019 I was on the premises of Camp Lapu-
Lapu for an interview I was doing for our school paper. On my way to my car, I
saw a white van parked beside it with the license plate XAS-9000. The license
plate reminded me of a Facebook post that I saw earlier that day about a student
being abducted from the University of the Philippines. I checked the license plate
on the Facebook post and found that they were a match. I quickly contact the
number provided on the Facebook post and informed Mrs. Juana Santos that I saw
the van on the premises of Camp Lapu-Lapu.

That a day after my interview, I received a text message asking why I was
taking a picture of the van’s license plate. I replied saying that I was sending the
photo to Mrs. Juana Santos as proof. The unknown number then informed me that I
should keep out of this business or else I would be in danger. The last text message
read as “Ayaw’g apil ug di ka gusto mamatay.”
