Brief History of the Barangay

It is the remostest barangay at the eastern part of this municipality , it is

located within the plateau ranges overlooking the South China Sea . Based on land
documents, this place was formally called “ Candelaria” . Based on the verbal
history of our forefathers the word “ Baracbac” was derived from the stiff policy
Implemented by the residents before to somebody committed against any of the
community policies. “ The respondent or accused will be asked to lay down facing
the floor , then a person was designated to whip the person accused” . The whip
when it strikes to the human body produces sound “bac” in which the official
name of this barangay ‘ BARACBAC” was derived.

Before it was formally named as Barangay Baracbac , this community has

(293) number of residents belongs to the ITNEG (Indegeneous People), within the
7, 145 hectares. Baracbac became officially as barangay by the Barrio Charter 2370 in the
year 1960.
