ABSTRACT

However, many teachers lack a solid foundation for teaching these

reading comprehension strategies. Therefore, teachers need to be

prepared on how to design effective comprehension strategies and how to

teach these strategies to their students.

This study aims to study the effective reading strategies in order to

improve reading skills in language classes. And to find out other strageties

on reading comprehension of Grade VII students of Taguig Integrated

School.

The study suggests that teachers and parents must be monitoring

their children's reading comprehension through asking them to read a

book. Researchers have found that teaching reading strageties is a key

element in developing student comprehension. Find books they will like

,sometimes low reading comprehension comes down to fact that a student

just is’nt interested in what he or she is reading. Discuss what your child

has just read, when your child has finished reading, talk about what he or

she just read together. Ask your child what he or she learned and his or her

thoughts.Some students just aren’t natural readers—they learn better when


they see, hear, or write things. If your student struggles with reading, find a

format that works better and incorporate that into reading sessions.
