• Differences between background and text and images
• Use of visual diagrams
• Allowing the use of alternatives responding via technology
• Authentic and purposeful outcomes
• Incorporates task that allow active participation, exploration
Lesson idea implementation:
To begin this lesson the teacher will review the standard with the students and will activate prior knowledge
of what students already know about the Civil Rights movement. The teacher will then share on the projector
her Padlet post for the students to read and discuss. Students will individually use research and gather
information from sources about an important individual, date or event we are learning about during the Civil
Rights Movement. Students will take that information and add it and a picture to their Padlet timeline.
Students will also cite their sources from research to their Padlet. Then students will share their information
on the Padlet with a partner. They will provide feedback to each other and share their finished product with
the teacher. Students will build on this timeline throughout the year.
To differentiate for students some who are covering the same material can group up and discuss their
thoughts on the information being utilized. This allows students an alternative way of displaying the
information they have learned and keeping track of the events and people we have been discussing. To
extend the students learning to higher learning level I would allow students to create a PowerPoint of their
lesson to share their information. Students will provide feedback and the teacher will provide feedback as the
students are creating and before the student turns in the assignment. The teacher will also provide a rubric of
the information needed.

Reflective Practice: I think this activity is a great way to have students showcase their learning so far in a
technological way. This breaks the tradition of formal essay writing and strengthens students use of online

resources and citing works used. Other technology tools that could further this project would be to have
students create a power point presentation for the even or person they choose to write about on their Padlet
page. Another activity would be to have that person present to the class about what they have learned and
help others gather ideas.
