DW can become very frustrated and aggressive if he does not get what he
wants. DW is very good at communicating what he would like and
understanding what he has been told. The issues usually tend to be around
whether DW would like to do what he has been requested to do, such making
his bed or doing the washing.
When DW does not want to do something he can communicate this very well.
Unit/PC/KS How did you find out about this person’s ability to communicate?
I observed DW’s previous support worker, working with DW and learned from
the observation about how DW likes to be communicated with and how he like
to communicate.
How do you
show this DW does not like you to stand close to him so I will stand back,
person that keep quiet and look directly at him as he is talking, I will also
you are
listening to add short interruptions to him talking saying things like ‘OK
them? D...’, or ‘I understand D...’
