NATURE OF INQUIRY AND RESEARCH; THE IMPORTANCE OF RESEARCH IN


DAILY LIFE

What is an inquiry?
 It is synonymous with the word “investigation”.
 It tends to ask questions to probe or examine something using HOTS.
 It is an act of asking questions to obtain specific information.

What is research?
 It is a scientific or systematic process or collecting, organizing, analyzing and interpreting
empirical data that are intended for drawing a possible conclusion.
 It is an inquiry process in solving a problem.
 It originates with a question and a problem with set of procedures and stages.

Research- from the prefix “re” meaning again and search meaning to look for something”, it
means to look for something again.

What is to look for in a research?


 Search for new ideas
 Improve certain process
 Create something useful out of something old
 Explain series of observation
 To look at something using different perspective

KEY UNDERSATNDING:
Research is a systematic process of solving a problem or finding answers to an inquiry.

SIGNIFICANCE OF RESEARCH
1. To gather necessary information.
2. To improve standard of living.
3. To have a safer life.
4. To know the truth.
5. To explore our history buff.
6. To understand arts.

RESEARCH AND SOCIETY


 It is closely connected with development.
 It affects society and the lives of each one.
 It is useful for future endeavours.
 It hones basic life skills and makes learning a lifelong endeavour.
 It fills in the need to love reading, writing, analyzing and sharing valuable information.

1. Explain the statement “Research is significant in our everyday activities”. Your explanation

2. Cite one specific sample of research which would support the claim that research improves the
