SUBJECT: TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE FOR SERVICE CODE 670 (SC670)

GENERAL:
The following is a Troubleshooting Guide for SC670. Troubleshooting SC670 can be categorized in to three
areas:

1. Power on SC670 after long “Please Wait” message occurs. (No Service or User Tool mode access)
2. Intermittent SC670 occurs
3. Machine displays SC670 but Fuser is warm.

1. Power on SC670 after long “Please Wait” message occurs. (No Service or User
Tool mode access)
 Common cause: Hard failure due to failed PCBs or pinched harness.
 Check Fuser Exit Sensor Harness for poor connection or pinched wires.
 Check for toner/ paper dust on Fuser Unit and frame connector and clean contacts.

 Check the connection of the width sensor harness on ADF. Look for pinched/grounded pins.
(Refer to Picture 2 below.)

 Replace BCU and eeprom at the same time.


 Replace IPU

2. Intermittent SC670 occurs


Common Cause: ARP storms increase Network traffic to MFP.
 Power cycle unit and reconnect to network.
 Check with customer IT to check for network traffic
 Check the MFP for the recommended network speed of the customer network.
Other Causes:
 Pinched harness on Finisher Stapler Rotation Sensor.

3. Machine displays SC670 but Fuser is warm:


Common cause: Failed Hard Drive
 Replace HDD.
