VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMENS

Violence against women is growing tremendously in India. Nowadays

Sexual harassment is found everywhere, everyday and
everytime.Unwanted sexual behavior has become the serious
problem of the society. We need to focus more on this issue because
a lot of men do not take it seriously. They are not concerned about a
women’s feelings and respect towards women. This might be because
of the male domination but this should be stopped.

There are many violence on women’s which includes molestation,

eveteasing,dowry torture, wife beating , sexual harassment,bride
burning and a biggest issue of today’s date i.e. RAPE. Violence
against women can be physical, emotional or public. India is
traditionally a male dominant country where women finds a number of
violence against her and can’t even expect justice. India is now
leading a technological improvement but the women’s of India are not
leading a healthy and safe life. In a recent survey , it is found that
almost every women or a girl has been a victim of any kind of
violence especially sexual harassment and molestation. Violence on
women’s is not a problem of today but it has been started decades
before. Instead of decreasing the violence against women is
increasing day by day and time to time. It has started crossing all the
borders and races. Home is a place where an individual seeks love,
security and safety and shelter but we can’t deny the fact that there is
also the same amount of danger outside the home. Then where should
women reside? Is she not a human? is she not allowed to feel the
security or live the life stress free and safe? Is she only took birth to
entertain the males?

The women who have been gone through the violence suffered the
worst their bodies might not even be able to have a children. They
are subjected to have a low confidence and they almost deny to open
themselves in the society. They deny to live a healthy and peaceful
life. They get scared emotionally and become emotionally weak.
Rape has become very common among our country, isn’t it? There is
not a single day that we didn’t heard about someone being raped in
India. And shamefully now it has become too common to hear all this.
Ever wondered the girl you ignored in the news today, tomorrow it
can be your daughter, sister or mom? Only because a woman has a
different body parts then men she’s been molestated, abused and
even raped.

The most significant factor of harassment is our culture, values and

status of the women. The way women and men are brought up in our
country influences their behavior too. In India girl child are given
lesser priority compared to boy child which is the root cause of the
problem , if the child is brought up in the way where girl and boy are
equally treated the problem may not rise in the future. Secondly the
offender the offender should be punished but in India there is no strict
law. The person who has raped is planning for a marriage whereas the
women who got raped is waiting for her death. This is the harsh reality
of the date.

There should be a quick or planned punishment to the offenders

which will prevent the birth of future offenders. Death should be the
punishment to the people who assault the women.

Many problems in society is not easily detected. Although these

problems may be terrible because it is very difficult to identify the
criminals and they are able to do it multiple times. Not only women
and girls but also childrens are been molestated. Sexual abuse also
known as sexual assault, in any sort of activity in which one doesn’t
agree which includes inappropriate touching, oral penetration ,sexual
intercourse one says no to , as well as child molestation. Sexual abuse
is usually verbal or visual. Also women who are victims go through a
depression have lifetime prevalence of 55% physical abuse. It is
found that the most common areas of beatings are breasts, abdomen,
and head with 80% to 20% estimated incidence of abuse in
pregnancy. The risk of low birth weight, delayed pre natal care is
increased in human due to physical abuse.

Once women were worshiped as goddess in India. Gradually there

status deterioted. Historically, religiously and social compulsion
made them virtual slaves to men’s desire. Today the greatest
numbers of crimes are commited against the goddess only. They are
harasses, tortured and ill-treated.

Women are been involved in so many field of criminal injustice for

many years. Although some jobs are difficult compared to others but
women stands equally doing the same job and sometimes better then
mens too. Women have been a part of the law enforcement field for
more then 80 years but no one is aware about that. Don’t you think
women should get justice to the violence against them? Don’t you
think it’s a crime to not react to the violence happening to them? Don’t
you think the women should be safe and felt secured? Don’t you think
India should change ? Women must face many obstacles including
molestation.

There are many rights protecting the women’s right under “THE
WOMEN’S PROTECTION ACT” but many peoples are not aware about
that . There are laws against dowry, maternity benefit, medical
termination of pregnancy, sexual harassment, equal remuneration,
etc . These are the laws working for the women so in case any women
is facing violence she can easily make use of these laws but normally
victims may not be able to make use of these laws because of their
mental stress.

In order to stop the violence against women it’s our responsibility to

be alert in every situation, teach mens the value of women’s right
from the childhood in order to prevent them from becoming future
criminals. It’s each and everyone’s responsibility to prevent the
violence against women for a better country.

“If we are to fight discrimination and injustice against women we must

start from the home for if a women cannot be safe in her own house then
she cannot be expected to feel safe anywhere”
