(b) Write a summary of the poem, ‘The Windmill’?
In the poem ‘The Windmill’, the windmill speaks about its daily routine
and how it helps the miller earn his living. It stands on a solid rock
between fields of maize, wheat and rye which it will devour to grind it
into fine flour. It waits for the harvest from the field to be fed into it. It
hears the flails made by threshing of the harvest. The wind that meets the
sails of the windmill makes a loud roar. But the windmill stands
undeterred ready to take whatever that comes to it for grinding. It is like
a brave soldier who is ready to perform his duties at any cost. It takes
pride because his master is being benefitted by his deeds. Lastly the
windmill says that it rests on Sunday and listens to the church bells ring.
