TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENTS’ ACTIVITY

Good morning class. Good morning Sir. (One student leads the
prayer) In the name of the Father…
Let us pray first.

Please go back to your permanent seats

because I will check your attendance.
(Checking the attendance through seat plan)
Very good. All are present. Around of We talked about the Right Triangle Similarity
Theorem (RTST). RTST states that if the altitude

is drawn to the hypotenuse of a right triangle,
Before we will proceed to our new lesson, then the two triangles formed are similar to the
original triangle and to each other. It has an

discussed last meeting.
So, what did we discuss yesterday?

Very good. So, what is RTST?

How will you describe a right triangle?
If I have here ∆ABC, name the hypotenuse
and the legs.

Motivation (Group Activity) I will group the class

into four. You are going to play a cross-word
puzzle. List down the words that you can see in
the puzzle. The number of words that you have
will be the bases of the points you earn in the
activity. You have 5 minutes to do the activity.

Pythagorean Theorem for me is in the equation

of 𝑎 2 + 𝑏 2 = 𝑐 2 . Pythagorean Theorem is the
relationship between the sides of a right
triangle.

Pythagorean Theorem states that the square of

the hypotenuse of a right triangle is equal to
the sum of the squares of the legs.

Presentation Now, based in our activity a while Pythagorean Theorem can be applied only in
ago, our lesson for today is all about right triangle.
Pythagorean Theorem. What is Pythagorean
Theorem?
(Students prove the Pythagorean Theorem)
Do you have any idea?

Very good. Who else? Very good. Who can state

the Pythagorean Theorem?

Very good. Now, I will show you a right triangle.

Name the sides of the triangle and identify what
part of the right triangle each side that you’ve
mentioned.

Very Good. Now, let us try to prove the

Pythagorean theorem.
In proving the Pythagorean theorem, we will
apply also the concept you have learned in Right
Triangle Similarity Theorem.

Now, let’s apply the Pythagorean theorem in

finding the unknown side of a right triangle.
A 10 feet ladder is leaning against a vertical wall.
If the foot of the ladder is 6 feet from the wall,
how high does the ladder reach? Create an
illustration

Now, let us deepen our knowledge on

Pythagorean Theorem in solving real-life
problem/situation.

IV. APPLICATION

The size of a TV screen is given by the length of

its diagonal. If the dimension of a TV screen is 16
inches by 14 inches, what is the size of the TV
screen?

Generalization:
Again, what is Pythagorean theorem?
What is the use/application of Pythagorean
Theorem?

V. EVALUATION

Find the missing side of the following right

triangle.
Solve the problem.
An anchor line for a tower needs to be replaced.
The tower is 96 ft. tall. The anchor line is 105 ft.
long. How far from the tower can it be placed, to
the nearest foot?

VI. ASSIGNMENT
Bring bond paper and ruler for individual activity tomorrow.
