I find the quotes striking as it affirm the true spirit of the cultural events. Not only do they affirm the cultural spirit, but
they also exhibit the firmness of the spirit of the event. Celebrating Sinulog and Christmas in the flesh would mean that
people had enjoyed the festivities in their form, but the question is that- were they able to realize the true meaning of
such festivities? From the observations of the celebrations mentioned- yes. The first quote would emphasized the
timeless meaning of what Christmas truly is. Even if a century had already passed, the meaning of Christmas stays the
same. As for the second quote, the same can be said. With many people joining a communal sacrifice, the sanctity of
the event is still preserved.
