CP 101-A
Course description:
The course deals with the skills in (1) management of normal pregnancy, labor and
delivery, puerperium; and the care of the newborn; (2) counseling in family planning and
responsible parenthood; and (3) intravenous insertion, vaginal examination and suturing
Course objective:
At the end of the semester, the students will have developed the necessary
competencies in the care and management hence, ensuring safety and comfort for both
mothers and babies.
Placement: Cuyegking, Pasay City/
EAC- Maternity Center Pasay
General objective: Within ___ days exposure, the students are expected to:
Cognitive: 1. Differentiate normal from abnormal assessment findings
2. Identify cases of bleeding during the various stages of pregnancy
3. Plan appropriate care based on identified needs and problems of
the client
Affective: 1. Assess women during the ante, intra, and postpartal period and the
newborn.
2. Develop skills to counsel/motivate family planning clients.
3. Display and develop sensitivity in effective communications skills in
gathering health history data with patients.
Psychomotor: 1. Deliver safe and quality care to patients during the perinatal
period
2. Implement planned interventions to meet needs and address
problems.
