Indices to complement CRI include Judd’s Flattery Index [1967]; Thornton’s Color
Preference Index [1974]; Guo and Houser’s analysis showed complementarity of
reference and gamut based indices [2004]; Lighting Research Center proposed
“Class A” employing CRI and GAI [2008]; NIST proposed CQS employing Qa and
Qg [2010]; Houser and colleagues provided analysis, rationale, and discussed
considerations for a two-metric system [2013].
