If the stator rotational speed is equal to the rotational speed of the rotor (ns = nr), then no voltage is
induced either to the stator or to the rotor.
If the stator rotational speed is greater than the rotor speed (ns> nr), then the voltage will be induced to
the rotor so that the induction machine operates as an electric motor.
If the rotational speed of the rotor is greater than the stator rotational speed (nr> ns), then the voltage will
be induced to the stator so that the induction machine will operate as an electric generator.
The difference in rotational speed between the stator and rotor is called slip (S).
