DOT-MATRIX PRINTER INSTALLATION

SOME ECARS21 REPORTS ARE SPECIALLY DESIGNED TO BE PRINTED ON DOT-MATRIX
PRINTER IN TEXT-MODE (THIS MODE HELP YOU TO FAST PRINT SIMPLY PRINTINGS
WITHOUT GRAPHIC ELEMENTS – ONLY TEST).
FOR EXAMPLE IN POLAND YOU CAN PRINT FOLLOWING REPORTS ON DOT-MATRIX
PRINTER IN TEXT-MODE:
 Repair order
 Stock movement document
 Payment
 Cashdesk report

To print reports above in text mode, you have to install dot-matrix printer as:
“Generic/Text only printer”. If you are planning to use your dot-matrix printer in both modes: graphic
printings and text-only printings, you have to install them twice as 2 independent printers in system
with 2 different drivers:
 Original manufacture drivers (graphic printings)
 “Genetric\Text only” driver which is available in Windows

NOTE: “Generic\Text only” printer can’t be installed on Cars server as default printer!

 TIP

How to check if LPD service is working on a machine where the printer is physically
connected to?

De pe server: Run commands:

cmd
telnet IP of_LPD_server 515 ex: telnet 10.1.1.12 515

If black window with blinking cursor in left-hand upper corner only appears – it means that LPD service
is listening on this port, so service is working.

If below message appears:

Connecting To IP_of_LPD_server ...

Could not open connection to the host, on port 515: Connect failed

It means that LPD service isn’t working or isn’t installed at all.
