In the problem 3 x 4 = 12, 3 and 4 are factors and 12 is the product.

Factoring is like taking a number apart. It means to express a number as the product of its
factors. Factors are either composite numbers or prime numbers (except that 0 and 1 are
neither prime nor composite).

The number 12 is a multiple of 3, because it can be divided evenly by 3.

3 x 4 = 12
3 and 4 are both factors of 12
12 is a multiple of both 3 and 4.

Sequence of Activities:

A. Daily Routine

1. Classroom Management

Everybody please pick-up

the pieces of paper under your chairs.

2. Prayer (Assign a student to

lead the prayer)

Our Father, may we through you holy cross, add purity to the
world, subtract evils from our lives, multiply good words of your son
and divide your gifts and share them with others ,Amen.

3. Greetings
Good Morning IV- De-Jesus! Good morning
sir, good morning visitors,
MABUHAY!

4. Checking of Attendance, ID?s and uniform

Ms. Secretary, please

check the attendance

5. Checking of Assignment

(The students will exchange

their notebooks to their opposite rows)

B. Review

Teacher?s Activity Students? Activity

Class, as a recap, what did we discuss Our discussion yesterday is all about the mode
yesterday? of ungrouped-data
Mode is referred to as the most frequently
Correct! What do you mean by mode?
occurring value in a given set of data
Very good! Now let us

perform the activity entitled

?Word Decoding?

C. Drill and Motivation

Find the mode of the following

data and find the missing word by

putting the letters that corresponds to

your answers.

1. 4,5,6,4,8 A. 46 ___ O ___ ___

2. 90,91,93,91,93 D.91,93

3. 20,21,25,38,33,39,20,23 E.20 O ___

4. 5,9,6,3,9,3 F.3,9

D. Presentation

Based on our activity, what is our Our lesson today is

lesson for today?
bout ?Mode of Grouped-
data?

Good! Now, let us examine this table

Class- interval Frequency

172-180 3
163-171 5
154-162 9
145-153 12
136-144 5
127-135 4
118-126 2
It is obvious that the mode is in the

interval between 145-153 because it has the

most number of frequency which is 12.

To find the mode, we use the formula

X = L + [d1/ (d1+d2)] i

Where:

x- mode of the data

L- lower limit of the modal class

d1 - difference between the frequency

of the modal class and below

the modal class

d2 - difference between the frequency

of the modal class and above

the modal class

i- the size of the class interval

By substitution,

= 144.5 + {(12-9)/ [(12-9) + (12-5)]} 9

= 144.5 + 2.7

= 147.2

147.2 is the mode of the given data, Yes sir

can you follow class?

Now let us consider another example

Find the mode of the given data

Weekly wages Frequency

1380-1399 4
1360-1379 6
1340-1359 12
1320-1339 31
1300-1319 24
1280-1299 15
1260-1279 11
1240-1259 8

What is the highest frequency in the distribution? The

highest frequency is
31

Where is the location of the highest frequency? It is

located at the interval
between 1320-1339

Correct! What is now the modal

class of the distribution? The modal

class is the interval
1320-1339 because it
has the highest
frequency

Very good!

Can you easily tell what

the modal weekly wage

of the workers in the factory

is? Who will substitute?

X = L + [d1/ (d1+d2)] i
= 1319.5 + [(31-21) / (31-21)-(31-12)] 20

=1319.5 + 5.38

=1324.88

Very good! Thus, the modal

weekly wage is 1,324.88

Did you understand class? Yes sir.

Do you have any questions? None sir

E. Application

(Divide the class into four groups,

form a circle and discuss among

yourselves, select a leader and

a reporter in each group)

60-64 5
55-59 3
50-54 2
x = 82.23

Job well done class!

Any questions? None sir

F. Generalization
Again class, what is the

formula in finding for the

mode of a grouped-data? To find the mode,

we use the formula

X = L + [d1/ (d1+d2)] i

Where:

x- mode of the data

L- lower limit of the modal

class

d1 - difference between the

frequency of the modal class
and below the modal class

d2 - difference between the

frequency of the modal class
and above the modal class

i- the size of the class interval

Very good!
Do you have any questions class? None sir
