Turbosorter Manual Volume 2 - Safety and start-up
- Check that the optical sorter and the Turbosorter have all their protective devices (doors, sensors, sides) before
starting up. If these elements are missing, this may lead to serious accidents.
- Some parts of the equipment can be hot (electrical components, fan). Do not touch them for 2 minutes after the optical
sorter and Turbosorter have been stopped.
- When the optical sorter is running, if its noise level of 85dB (A) is reached (continuous acoustic pressure level),
hearing protection (e.g. headphones) must be provided to w orkers. Wearing this equipment is compulsory for any
personnel in the vicinity of the optical sorter.

Soundproofing tunnel
- The Turbosorter soundproofing tunnel has 3 identical panels. These panels are fitted w ith handles allow ing them to be
handled.
- These panels are mounted on brackets attached to the conveyor and optical sorter frame.
- The panels can be temporarily removed for maintenance and cleaning operations on the equipment.
Warning:
- If the insulation panels are not in place, stabilization system perform ance levels w ill not be achieved.
- Walking on these panels is prohibited.
To remove the tunnel panels, unlock the latches on each side of the panel closest to the Turbosorter.
Remove the first panel, then slide the others horizontally to the position of the first one.
Volume 4 - Operation
Warning:
- It is essential to ensure that the panels are in the correct position after any operations.
- The locking latches m ust be in “locked” position to ensure the panels are held in place and avoid any
dangerous situations.

Volume 5 - Servicing
Regular servicing of the Turbosorter ensures that it continues to operate correctly.
It is carried out every day, every w eek or every month, depending on the component to be serviced.
The elements to be serviced are the jamming cells and the fans.
The frequency and duration of m aintenance operations depend on the usage and context of the optical
sorter.
The tables below sum m arising the servicing to be carried out state the frequency and durations
estim ated by Pellenc ST for a "clean site" context.
The operator w ill establish the right frequency for the servicing operations according to the use and
surrounding environm ent (dust, particles in suspension, type of flow , etc.).
All operations carried out on Pellenc ST equipm ent m ust be perform ed by com petent authorised
personnel.
Before any servicing operations, ensure that the optical sorter and/or the high speed conveyor are
placed in lockout according to the tables below :
- For the optical sorter, refer to volum e 2 of the m achine’s m anual.
- To sw itch off the pow er and place the high speed conveyor in lockout, please refer to the custom er
internal procedures.
Operators m ust never be in situations w here they are w orking alone.

5.1 Servicing summary tables
The servicing operations are listed in the follow ing tables according to their frequency:

operation test
The jam m ing sensors detect a build-up of objects on the high speed conveyor, w hich m ay cause the
Turbosorter and optical sorter to m alfunction.
They allow risks caused by this type of situation to be elim inated by stopping the optical sorter if the
detected jam m ing lasts m ore than 6 seconds.
It is therefore essential to clean the sensors to avoid unexpected stopping (e.g. caused by a label stuck
to the glass of a sensor or a build-up of dust). 27
