IMPORTANT
Please com ply w ith all the instructions given below .
All operations carried out on Pellenc ST equipm ent m ust be perform ed by com petent authorised
personnel.

2.1 Usage conditions - Safety rules to be observed

- Wear the appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) suitable for industrial conditions (safety shoes, helmet,
gloves, suitable w orking clothes, hearing protection, goggles, etc.).
- Before using the Turbosorter, check that it is stable (check the tightness of the fasteners attaching the Turbosorter to
the conveyor and the optical sorter, and tighten them if necessary).

- Check that the optical sorter and the Turbosorter have all their protective devices (doors, sensors, sides) before
starting up. If these elements are missing, this may lead to serious accidents.
- Some parts of the equipment can be hot (electrical components, fan). Do not touch them for 2 minutes after the optical
sorter and Turbosorter have been stopped.
- When the optical sorter is running, if its noise level of 85dB (A) is reached (continuous acoustic pressure level),
hearing protection (e.g. headphones) must be provided to w orkers. Wearing this equipment is compulsory for any
personnel in the vicinity of the optical sorter.

2.2 Safety instructions

- READ all the safety pictogram stickers affixed to the optical sorter and the Turbosorter and obey the instructions
before starting up, using and servicing the Turbosorter.
- Ensure these stickers are in good condition. Order them from Pellenc ST if they need to be replaced.
10 - The Turbosorter must only be used by qualified personnel w ho have previously been trained in the use of the optical
sorter and additional equipment (i.e. w ho have completed the Pellenc ST customer training course level 1 given w hen
the equipment is installed).
- It is essential to replace any faulty parts w hich have been subject to impact, distortion or w ear.

All operations carried out on Pellenc ST equipm ent m ust be perform ed by com petent authorised
personnel.

Regular servicing of the Turbosorter ensures that it continues to operate correctly.
It is carried out every day, every w eek or every month, depending on the component to be serviced.
The elements to be serviced are the jamming cells and the fans.

The frequency and duration of m aintenance operations depend on the usage and context of the optical
sorter.
The tables below sum m arising the servicing to be carried out state the frequency and durations
estim ated by Pellenc ST for a "clean site" context.
The operator w ill establish the right frequency for the servicing operations according to the use and
surrounding environm ent (dust, particles in suspension, type of flow , etc.).

All operations carried out on Pellenc ST equipm ent m ust be perform ed by com petent authorised
personnel.
Before any servicing operations, ensure that the optical sorter and/or the high speed conveyor are
placed in lockout according to the tables below :
- For the optical sorter, refer to volum e 2 of the m achine’s m anual.
- To sw itch off the pow er and place the high speed conveyor in lockout, please refer to the custom er

5.2 Detailed instructions for servicing

5.2.1 Q1 servicing - Turbosorter - Jamming sensors

The jam m ing sensors detect a build-up of objects on the high speed conveyor, w hich m ay cause the
Turbosorter and optical sorter to m alfunction.
They allow risks caused by this type of situation to be elim inated by stopping the optical sorter if the
detected jam m ing lasts m ore than 6 seconds.
It is therefore essential to clean the sensors to avoid unexpected stopping (e.g. caused by a label stuck
to the glass of a sensor or a build-up of dust). 27
