I, France Ellaine M. Merino, grade 10 student of Baclaran National High School do this as My Book
Review because it is one of my requirements in English subject. Tell Me Your Dreams is a fiction novel
written by an American author Sydney Sheldon and published by William Morrow and Company, Inc.
This novel has been declared the best seller of the year 1998. The book is all about crime and psychology
that captures the hearts of the readers. Sydney Sheldon is the author of Tell Me Your Dreams, The Best
Laid Plans, Nothing Last Forever, Rage of Angel and many more. Almost all have been number-one
international bestsellers. His first ever book, The Naked Face was acclaimed by the New York Times as “
The best first mystery of the year.” And receive an Edgar award. Most of his novels have become major
features film or TV miniseries. He is also the Guinness Book of Records as the most translated author in
the world with more the 280 million copied of his books in print in 105 countries. Sheldon was first
married to Jane Kaufman Harding. But their marriage didn’t work. Years later, he was married to Jorja
Curtright, a stage and film actress who later become an interior designer. But Curtright died of a heart
attack. After Sheldon’s longing from her late wife, he married Alexandra Joyce Kostoff, a former child
actress. Sheldon struggles with bipolar disorder for years, he contemplates suicide at 17.

Ashley works in a computer company in Silicon Valley. Allete is Ashley’s friend, she moved from
California to Rome for her dreams. And when the crime happened the police in Chicago, San Francisco
and Quebec are desperate to solve the crime.

Ashley Patterson is the main character of the novel and the whole mystery revolves around her and
three more characters. And Toni is a British woman and very bold, harsh and full of rage that she can kill
someone, and there is Alette is very calm, dreamy and romantic. She is from Rome. Ashley's father, Dr.
Steven Patterson, he is a famous surgeon.

The first time I read this book I thought there was a three main characters and in the story introduces
each of their characteristics, I read the book carefully because at the beginning they are just introducing
each character and their personality as they are very different to each other and that's the beginning of
the story. The second part is when Ashley experiences some threat to her life, so he calls some police
men to work for her but after many days all the three police men she'd hire had died and before killing
all of them they first experience sexual harassment. The exciting part of the story is when they identified
Ashley because the things of the police men is on Ashley's bag, and they find that Ashley has disorder of
having an identical person on her and that's Toni the real killer and murderer, Toni has been created
because of Ashley's sexual harassment when he was young especially the harassment from her father.
When the case was solved and Ashley is been proven not guilty because she has a disorder, she and her
family go to Italy and she experience another harassment from her father resulting for another identity
creates on her, it's alette that represent her sadness. The last part is when ashley has been cure by the
doctor but when Ashley go to the bus station where her father is waiting the two identical person on her
got out and killed her father.

The languages use by the writer is very appropriate to the readers not just because it’s English but also
because the English he uses I think everyone could understand even though to those who didn’t really
know and understand English well because the way he wrote it, it’s very understandable and he never
uses different English.

This novel is Thriller type of novel based on the concept of Multiple Personality Disorder. There is a main
character in this novel named as Ashley Patterson, the whole story is all about this young and beautiful
girl. Ashley is a workaholic person who always want to stay alone. She only has her father and mother in
her family. She works in a computer company where she have two co-workers named as Toni Prescott
and Alette Peters which are totally different to Ashley. Toni is a lively girl which likes to enjoy her life,
and she knows very well how to deal with this mean world and she gets angry very quickly. While Alette
is a polite and shy girl from Rome, Alette is a brilliant painter. But interestingly in the end it is exposed
that Toni and Alette are two personalities which have been splitted in Ashley Patterson. In the middle of
the story some problems start to come in Ashley's life as she was accused for a murders about which she
didn’t even know, but the suspects and the proofs says that all the murders were done by Ashley
Patterson. But in the conclusion of the story the law enforcement agencies investigated that those
murders weren’t actually done by Ashley but they were done by one of the multiple personality of
Ashley called Toni. The reason behind all the problems of Ashley and her disorder is very painful and
breathtaking. Ashley got into this disorder because in her earlier age she went through a very painful
incident and that incident was that her own father raped her several times, which made Ashley mentally
sick and took her into many complexities and depressions. To fight those depressions Ashley got another
personality in her called Toni which took stand for her own rights and saved her from this mean world,
But at the end Ashley was taken to the rehabilitation hospital where her treatment started and after a
long time period she recovered that disorder and became a heathy citizen.

The first thing I love about this book is the educative side of it. It thought me a lot of lessons about life.
Another is that the story is very unpredictable, it was so very unexpected. I must say that the author is
really really smart. It is a brilliant story, the flow of the story is smooth. This novel is really good. And if
you love thriller or suspense, then this is the right book for you
