A fallacy is the use of invalid or otherwise faulty reasoning, or “wrong moves” in

the construction of an argument. A fallacious argument may be deceptive by appearing

to be better than it really is. Fallacy is divided into several types depending on how it
tried to prove its invalid point. These types of fallacies are all evident to the argument
that’s going to be discussed.

The whole passage is a counterargument of the whole feminist movement about

how harmful pornography is. It discusses how it has no evidences to prove such claim
and how porn affects the men and women of the society.

The first sentence is an ad hominem as the statement attacks the feminist itself
for looking at porn too rather than staying to the argument.

Bandwagon is also evident to the passage as the author mentioned how many
people important and notable people agreed on posing and reading such erotic
magazines.

The next statement discusses about how science haven’t backed up the
feminist’s theory regarding how harmful porn is without even providing scientific
evidences that actually falsify such claim. This is a type of a fallacy called circular
reasoning.

Red herring is also evident to the passage as the author provided as irrelevant
claim, which is how similar the feminists are to his parents, to support him or the distract
his readers to the issue.

The statement where the author mentioned how the feminist movement is the
cause of how divorce rate increases today is an example of false cause and also red
herring.

Also the statement “If the feminists would just cease their hysterical opposition to
sex, perhaps relationships in our society would improve” is an example of straw man,
specifically to the phrase “opposition to sex.”

Slippery slope can also be seen in the counterargument. It is evident on the part
where the author stated that banning porn could lead to negative events such as taking
away the freedom and pleasure of men up to numbers of women that might work as a
prostitute due to being jobless in the porn business.

The usage of fallacies should be used carefully for too much usage of these
could actually lead your argument into proving the other’s point rather than your point to
falsification.
