1.0 Purpose:

The purpose of this method statement is to outline the typical requirements which shall be taken
into consideration for the activity of floor screed works in Vertical & Slope Tower

2.0 Scope:

The scope of this method statement is to define the procedure that shall be followed for the floor
screed works inside the apartments in vertical and slope tower.

Required inspections shall be carried out in order to verify that the screed works are in compliant
as per the specified specification and the construction drawing.

5.0 Responsibilities:

5.1 Project Manager


 Responsible for controlling the project’s entire activities & for the overall
coordination with the Client / PMC & Consultant.

 Ensure that adequate facilities, resources and equipment are provided to the work to
avoid injury, health impairment or damage & to ensure providing quality works
within the planned timescale.

5.2 Construction Managers

 The Construction Managers shall be responsible for designation of right persons /


resources for the planning and execution of floor screed works.

5.3 Civil Site Engineer

 Organize the site so that screed works are carried out as per this method statement
and project specifications with a minimum risk to men, equipment and materials.

 Adhere to the project specific quality management program and HSE requirements.

 Prepare work related reports as necessary.

 Coordinate/ Ensure that the floor screed works are executed adhering to the quality
and safety requirements. Supervise the works during the execution.

 Adhere to the project specific method statements, procedures, inspection programs


& HSE instructions to get the activities performed to the consultant’s satisfaction
with full coordination with quality and HSE personnel.

 Workers carry out their work in such a way that they don't create for themselves or
any other person risk to health & safety, and don't impact the environment to the
maximum extent possible or affect the quality of work.

5.4 QA/QC Engineer


 Responsible for implementation of quality assurance, quality control & inspection
programs for the screed works as per specifications and this method statement.

5.4 HSE Engineer

 Ensure that all workers have a safe place of work, advice safe system of work and
provide adequate instructions, training and supervision to enable employees to work
safely.
 Carry out site survey on daily basis to ensure that the HSE methods of working are
in operation & that all regulations are being observed.
 Report, determine & analyze the cause of any accident or dangerous occurrence and
recommend measures for preventing recurrence.

5.6 Surveyor

 Responsible to make the markings for correct finishing levels and general
arrangements layouts as per approved drawings.

6.0 Methodology

6.1 Setting out.

All work will be set out (or) positioned as accurately as possible as Site Engineer / CM
per the GAD layout. In case if any difficulty is being experienced
in achieving accuracy, will be discussed with Consultant for
further needful.

6.2 Surface Preparation

Mild Scrabbling of the area to be done to have rough finish


thereby removing the top smooth surface. Surveyor, SE, CM

The area to receive screed must be cleaned thoroughly with


blower and mild water to avoid dust, debris, loose laitance etc

Level Pads at max 1.5~1.8-meter interval both way shall be


marked for controlling the required levels of the finished floor.

6.3 Application of Bonding Agent

Approved bonding agent will be used at the surface of old concrete Site Engineer
to have proper bonding with the fresh screed as per the
manufacture instructions.

6.4 Mix proportion of the screed

Screed mortar are mixed/shifted as dry mix and mechanically Engineer, Project
mixed in baby mixers near to the work fronts as per attached mix Engineer & QC

6.5 Concealed Items Site Engineer, Project

All built in items should have been completed and clearance to be Coordinator &
obtained for the area prior to the screed laying. Engineers, QC

6.6 Placing Control

The foreman and respective site engineer will ensure that the Construction
delivery, discharging, placing and leveling of the screed are all in Manager, Site
relevant to acceptance criteria and visually checking the Engineer, QC
consistency of the screed being placed. Engineer

Masons/workers shall be dedicatedly deployed to complete the


screed works in the designated prepared surface without
obstructions and breaks in between.

Finishing will be done using masonry trowel/ aluminum straight


edge.

Average thickness of the screed shall be 35 mm. However, it


shall not be less than 10 mm an any point with in the entire
prepared surface.

Surface finish should be suitable to accept the subsequent finish


such as marble, parquet flooring etc as per finishing schedule.

6.7 Inspections

On completion of the surface preparation works, the workmanship


will be checked by the Site Engineer, Construction Manager and Construction
QA/QC Engineer. It shall be an internal inspection of SPLL Manager, Site
wherein a verbal information will be given to SWA for the works Engineer, Project
who may witness or conduct random surveillance check of the Engineer, MEP
preparatory works Coordinator &

When the works are complete, upon raising the formal IR by the Engineer
site engineer, the respective QA/QC Engineer will invite the SWA
inspectors for necessary approval.

It is the Site Engineer, CM’s responsibility to confirm the


completion of all preparatory works and to ensure that all the
necessary approvals are obtained from MEP Department &
Consultant prior to the works.

6.8 Post Completion

Screed shall be cured by mist spray of water to minimize early Project Engineer, QC
shrinkage cracking and duly covered with wet hessian cloth for a Engineer
minimum period of 3 days.

6.10 Repair Works


Site Engineer,
Screed surface shall be protected against mechanical damage, in QC Engineer
case due to any reason if the repair is required it shall be done in
the effective area with approved repair non-shrink mortar as per
the manufactures recommendations or else if the area is more,
screed to be re-done in the affected area.

7. MAN POWER REQUIREMENTS/ARRANGEMENTS

Labour requirements shall include masons, helpers, shall be adequate as per the schedule of work
planned.

Safety induction has to implement prior to execute the activity


Proper PPE (, safety shoes, hand glove, eye protection, etc) should be worn,
All equipment shall comply to safety standard
During working at night provide sufficient lighting
Safety supervisor to be on site at all times.
