Conversation Dice

A great way to get kids talking, especially when they’re Back-to-School!

3 Fun Ways to Play

#1 Whole Class #2 Quickwrites

Students are seated in teams of 2,
3, or 4. Roll the dice on the
projector and read aloud the
conversation starter on top.
Students in their teams take turns
verbally sharing using the sentence
starter on the dice.
Set the timer for journal writing. Roll
the dice on the projector and push
start! Students quickwrite in their
notebooks or on paper in response to
the prompt. Then kids get up and mix
around the room to some music. When
you say stop, they pair up and share
with a partner!

# 3 Partners A & B
Put students in pairs around the room. Give each pair one
conversation starter dice. Choose a Partner A and a
Partner B.The pair rolls the cube and Partner A shares
for 1 minute about the conversation starter on the cube.
Then Partner B shares for 1 minute. Then All the Partner
Bs get up and rotate to the next Partner A. Roll again!
