Installation Instructions for Open VPN GUI

1. Install the openvpn-2.1.4-install with administrative rights in Windows XP/


Windows Vista / Windows 7

2. The default location for the openvpn is ‘C:\Program Files\OpenVPN’ and check
the location of the installed location in Windows.

3. If c:\program files\openvpn, then copy all the files in the zip folder content and
*.ovpn file to the c:\program files\openvpn\config\.

4. If different location of openvpn then copy all the files in the zip folder content to
the x:\xxxx\openvpn\config

5. Go to Network Connections-> a new interface named ‘TAP-win32 Adapter


Interface’ will be available. Rename (F2) the interface name as ‘tap0’.

6. In the start menu will be displayed on successful


installation.

7. On clicking on the OpenVPN icon, icon will be displayed on the right side
system tray on the desktop

8. On right clicking on the icon, the following options will be displayed. Click on the
‘connect’ option.
9. On clicking the ‘Connect’ option, the window will be opened and prompt for
Username and Password to enter.

10. Client key password will also be prompted to enter. On successful entering of the
passwords, message will be displayed as below.

11. Now a Secured Connection is established between broadband at your end and
the Headquarters Network .

12. In case of ‘tap0’ interface is not active, disable the firewall and make sure that
‘DHCP client service ‘ is started in the Control panel-> Administrative Tools ->
Services

Note:
While connecting, right click on the ‘OPEN GUI’ icon and select ‘Run as
Administrator’ option in step no :6 in case is you are not administrator.
