A. Review
Identify what type of phrase the underlined group of words in each sentence.

What do you use when you borrow a book? Or what do you call the card where it
indicates the name of the book that you want to borrow?
(Card Catalog)

C. Discussion
Card Catalog is a set of cards in a library that have information about books,
journal etc; written on them and are arranged in alphabetical order.
Teacher will present a sample catalog and indicate its parts.

Parts of the Card Catalog


-Call Number
-Authors Name
-Authors date of birth and death
-Title of the book
-Number of pages
-Publisher
-Place and date of publication

3 Types of Card Catalog

1. Author Card- the name of the author’s last name is printed on the top of the
card
2. Title Card- Title of the book is printed on the top of the card. After it the
authors name, publishing information and subjects are listed below.
3. Subject Card- Subject of the book is printed at the top of the card other
information follow under it.
D. Drill
Read the lists of authors, subjects and titles. Write A for author, S for subject and T
for title before each number.
