The Office of the Dean in the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences is seeking a Director of
Graduate Advising and Engagement for the Humanities for a newly awarded grant from The
Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to support Humanities Engage: Reimagining Humanities Doctoral
Education.
This position is responsible for enhancing graduate education in the Dietrich School of Art and
Sciences by helping doctoral students in the humanities navigate the integration of the many
facets of academic life into a coherent and fulfilling academic and career plan. The incumbent will

provide overall leadership and project management on this three-and-a-half year grant. Will be
responsible for creating an immersive fellowship program, design and organize new initiatives,
provide career guidance, partner with Directors of Graduate Studies and advisors, work
collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to enhance graduate student experiences,
and supervise a Project Coordinator assisting on the grant.
The Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences is committed to building a culturally diverse staff.

wide range of individuals and constituencies in support of a diverse community are required. This
position requires an innovative and nimble individual able to adapt to a changing environment.
Incumbent must have superior communication skills to build relationships with internal and
external stakeholders.
This position is funded by a 42-month grant, with an intention of sustaining the position long-term,
assuming that the existence of the position has proven effective and that funds are available to
sustain it.
A Ph.D. in an arts or humanities discipline required with 4 years of relevant experience. At least
two years of work experience outside of academia is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will
have work experience both inside and outside academia, including in graduate education,
advising, mentoring, career development, human resources, or related fields. All candidates are
required to submit a cover letter, resume, and 3 references (including at least one supervisor, two
