Lesson Plan in Mathematics

Subject: Mathematics Prepared By: Manilyn P. Arroyo
School Year: 2016-2017 Course /Year: BSED 4B
Date: February 16, 2016 Specialization: Mathematics
Time Consumed: 1 Hour Rating:

I. Objective
At the end of the lesson the Grade 9-Emerald is expected to
a.) differentiate six trigonometric ratios;

c.) show the use of trigonometric in solving real-life problems involving right
triangle.
II. Subject Matter

III. Procedure

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

A. Daily Routine
1.) Opening Prayer
Class stand up and let us pray.
Eva, lead the prayer Praise be thy name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Now and forever .Amen.
Good morning class! Good morning ma’am!
Before you take a seat please pick up the pieces of dirt All: Now and Forever Amen.
and arrange the chair properly

2.)Checking of Attendance
Jee-Ann please check the attendance. Yes ma’am.

3.) Review

Class what have we tackle yesterday? Our topic yesterday was all about the ratio and
proportion. When we say ratio, it is the relation
between two numbers while proportion is the quality
of two ratios.
Very Good!

B.) Motivation
Can I ask 4 volunteers to come here in front? (four volunteers will come in front)
Here’s you need to do. I will give two triangles to two
of the student and the remaining two will hold a
bottle. To those who are holding a bottle, hold it in
different position.
Okay for those who are holding the spray bottle,
spray to one of the acute angle or for the angle that
you want to find out.

Good. As you can see the sprayed part can be called

the opposite side.
So we can say that finding the opposite side and the
adjacent side will always depend on the missing
angle. The opposite side is the one beside the
hypotenuse and the hypotenuse is one across the right
angle or simply the longer side.
Did you understand? Yes ma’am

C. Presentation
Class, What do you think is our topic for today? Ma’am it is all about the sides of right triangle
Very good. We are going to discuss the Six Trigonometric
Ratios of Right Triangle.

Here is our objective for today.

(post the cartolina)
Kindly read please. A. Differentiate the trigonometricratios.
B. Apply trigonometric ratios to solve right
triangle and letter
C. Show the use of trigonometric ratios in
solving real life problems involving RIGHT
TRIANGLE.
Thank you.

C. Lesson Plan

1. Let’s have an activity first. I will divide you into

four groups. I will give this envelop to every group.
This envelop contains the task that you have to
accomplish. All you have to do is to fill the missing
part. Did you understand?
Ma’am: Very Good

C. Lesson Proper
1. Activity

Ma’am: Now, we will have a group activity. I will

divide the class into two groups. The right side will be
the first group and the left side will be the second
All: Yes Ma’am
group. Then I will give each group an envelope and
your tasks are attached inside.

Group 1
Ma’am: Ok then, I’ll give you 5 minutes to work on
S5: In the first problem, our answer is 24 while in the
with your task. Go to your respective groups and
second problem is 120. In the third question we can
work silently.
say that permutation is an arrangement of things
while combination is a selection of things.
Group 1

1.) How many 3 letter words can we make with the

letters in the word LOVE? 2.) rCn = = = = 120
(𝑛−𝑟)!𝑟! (10−3)!3! 7!∗3∗2∗1
2.) In how many ways can you select a committee of 3
students out of 10 students? Group 2
3.) What is the difference between permutation and S6: In the first problem, our answer is 720. On the
combination? second problem our answer is 120. In the third
Group 2 question we can say that combination is more on the

arrange themselves in this side-by-side pattern? 1.) rPn= 6!=6*5* 4 * 3 *2 * 1= 720
2.) The head of the guidance office at PSU laboratory 𝑛! 10! 10∗9∗8∗7∗6∗5!

handle the discipline problems. She needs to narrow

down her choice to five students from a group of 10
students. In how many ways can a group of five be
selected? S7: In the problem it can be easily identified because
3.) What is the difference between combination and as we said earlier permutation is more on the
permutation? arrangement while combination is more on the
selection.
After 5 minutes…
Ma’am: Class are you done with your work?

2.) Analysis
Ma’am: Now, Present your work and explain.
Let’s start with the group 1. S8: Combination is a selection of an item from a
group where the order doesn’t matter.

S9: We can use the general formula,

𝑛!
n Cr =
(𝑛−𝑟)!𝑟!

Very Good. How about the group 2.

All: Yes Ma’am

S10:
𝑛! 12! 12∗11∗10∗9∗8∗7∗6!
Very Good, I have question for both group. How did rCn = = = = 924
(𝑛−𝑟)!𝑟! (12−6)!6! 6!6∗5∗4∗3∗2∗1
you identify that the problem is permutation or a
combination?
Very Good
𝑛! 8! 8∗7∗6∗5!
S11:rCn = = = = 56
(𝑛−𝑟)!𝑟! (8−3)!3! 5!3∗2∗1

3.) Abstraction

Ma’am: Our topic is about combination. Base from

the song and from the activity that we conducted what
is combination again?

Ma’am: Very Good

Ma’am: How can we use combination in solving 5! 5∗4∗3!

S12: : rCn = = = 10
problem? (5−3)!3! 3!2∗1

Ma’am: Very Good

9! 9∗8∗7∗6∗5!
S13: rCn = = = 126
(9−4)!4! 5!4∗3∗2∗1

Ma’am: Ok then, Do you now understand the ways of

computing the combination?

Ma’am: Ok let’s see if you really do understand the

lesson. Let’s have some more examples.

1.) 12C6

2.) 8C3

Ma’am: Very Good

4.) Application

Ma’am: Let us say that we have five flavors of

icecream: banana, chocolate, lemon, strawberry and
vanilla. We can have three scoops. How many
variations will there be?

Ma’am: In an election setting, What if you have to

select 4 members for a committee from 9 people. How
many ways we can set the committee?

Ma’am: Very Good, You really do Understand the

lesson

Ma’am: Then get ½ crosswise sheet of paper and we

will have a quiz

IV. Evaluation

1.) Rowena would like to invite 7 friends to go on field trip but has room for only 4 of them. In
how many ways can they be chosen?
2.) How many choices of 5 books to read can be made from a set of nine books?
3.) 12C6
4.) 10C4
5.) 11C7

V. Assignment
1.) A class consists of 12 boys and 15 girls. How many different committees of four can be
selected from the class if each committee is to consist of two boys and two girls?
2.) From the class of 32 girls and 18 boys, how many study group of 3 girls and 2 boys can be
formed?
