Sleep with Me

“Babe is calling”
Every morning I always receive her call. She was like an alarm clock because he used to call
me to wake up. Because I want to hear her voice every morning and I feel like her voice is
energizer so I have energy going to school.

“Babeeee! Nako male-late ka nanaman its already 6 in the morning 7 ang pasok mo.”

“Shhhh. I know I love you” I replied
“I love you too” and she hang up the call

She’s Kailey, my girl. We were high school lovers back then. They used to tease us just
because we liked each other. Then it was I decided if I would court her. I spent almost a year
with her, courting her and finally she said yes. And now we're in college and we've been in
love for six years.

I saw her at their classroom, without makeup pure beauty. Her smile, her flaws and
everything about her makes me crazy thinking about the fact that if I would let go her, I lost
the moon while counting stars.

We don’t date at expensive restaurants because we’re always staying at “Aling Bebang’s
Ihawz” Date at ihawan of street foods. I don’t care at least I’m with her I don’t have any
complain.

Every moment I assure that she’s happy and contented with me.

But after those 6 years of being in love, she changed I mean she’s always sleep, she never
attended our date, she never call me in the morning, she never used the necklace that I
gave. She literally changes.

I talked to her; she didn’t even bother to spill the beans of what’s happening to her. She’s
always keep on saying that she’s okay. She goes to bed early because she hears noises from
the bathroom. I forgot to say, she used to live alone at their house because her parents is
working at abroad. And when she fall asleep and woke up in the dawn she always observe
and there’s a man at her door’s room. She keeps on complaining me with that.

I feel anxious about it, and overthink that what if she had a stalker, what if there’s a robber
at their home, serial killer or something. I talked to her parents and they assure me that they
will come back home as soon as possible. With that, I always accompany her going home
and stay up there until she falls asleep and go home.
First week of February her parents got home, I’m happy because I know that they will
protect their only child and my girl. With that she bloom again, she smile more now but still
a sleepy headed one.

I decided to surprise her at February 14 and I decided to sleep with her. I mean literally after
our home date we sleep, I want to be her pillow or today so that she can hear my heartbeat.
She can hear the beat of my heart telling her that I love her. I badly want it.

Today is the day; I talked to her parents that I had a plan to surprise her today, hearts days.
Her parents give me their permission and the plan is ready. I bought her flowers “Calla Lily”
and it symbolizes magnificence and beauty, “Red Rose” for a romantic love, “sunflower” that
symbolize adoration and dedication, and “Tulip” signifies declaration of love. Her favorite
movie done, her favorite food served and my gift to her is ready. I’m nervous right now. I’ll
prove to her that I really love her.

She entered her room with a surprised reaction, tears ran down to her rosy cheeks, she
hugged me and utter these words “I love you, I want you to be part of my until my last
breath”

“Babe I’m sleepy” she said

“Sleep with me baby” I replied
“I love you, Goodnight” I said
“Don’t take me pictures while I’m sleeping huh or else I will kill you when I woke up” she said
I just laugh, she sleep with me tonight.

“Bro are you ready graduate na tayo” my bro said

“Yeah but not yet ready” I replied
“Sus sikmuraan kita diyan eh tara na nga” he said

We proceed at the area; today is the day just a little longer we will no longer called
ourselves as a student but a graduate. The graduation ceremony started, the area is filled
with joy, laugh, tears and noise. The graduation ceremony started

I clapped with joy, her parents smiled and cry their daughter, my girl is now graduated.

With my parents we go upstairs at the stage receiving my diploma and medal.
After the ceremony I rushed at my car and go at her place, my girl place where she stay. I
bring her tulips, rose and calla lily and my diploma, smiling at her and a tear escaped to my
eyes.

“Babe, I’m now graduated I mean we are now graduated. I’m so happy about it. We did it
babe, you know our dream now come true. Babe I love youuuu”

I smiled bitterly, staring at her grave. She’s now rested. She died beside me, she died
sleeping with me. At the morning I waited her to wake up just to see her face when I told
her that I take a picture. I’m waiting for her but she never woke up. Her heart beat stop. She
never tell me about her disorder. She has a Narcolepsy; narcolepsy is a sleeping disorder
where the patient sleeps longer than a normal sleep. It is a disorder wherein the patient
usually sleeps more than a month or a year. Ung pasyenteng may ganitong sakit is
makakaramdam ng antok kahit ano man ang gawin niya. A person with Narcolepsy usually
feels sleepy eventhough he/she tried to be awake. Makakatulog ka nalang nito basta basta.
Tapos magigising ka ng 2 or 3 days or let us say maabot ng ilang months. Remember when
she always telling me that there’s a man in her room? It’s just her hallucination; remember
when she forgets a lot its memory loss caused by narcolepsy.

I regret that I surprised her because of Cataplexy caused by narcolepsy. It occurs when you
have a sleep attack that is triggered by a strong emotion. This can happen when you are
surprised. That leads her being paralyzed and worst death.

If I would only know about this, I will never do that thing. But I know that she’s happy. Happy
to sleep with me at the first and last time, she’s happy to hear my heart beat. She’s happy to
be with me. I feel bitter sweet staring at your grave. See you soon babe, be happy.
