the INTRODUCTION

There is a significant amount of research that supports the claim that student organizations

benefit the students who participate amongst them such as development of interpersonal and

technical skills.

According to R. Garcia (2011), one of the goals of higher education is to prepare students

for the occupation and profession. In addition to the traditional classroom environment there are

opportunities that can help students in preparing their interest and developing professional skills.

According to Stanley (2015), involvement of student organization is considered as one of

those opportunities for skilled development. Student organization functioned as social

opportunities for students to network on colleges, campuses and to serve as a significant linked for

student colleges or universities.

According to Siddique (2011), students of higher education prefers on intrinsic

motivation rather than extrinsic motivation. As fascination of research work, recognition,

honor, autonomy, career development, and helping others to learn are important factors that

can motivate them.

Baku (2011), presented that leadership that is required in higher education is referred to as

Academic leadership. Academic leaders should motivate, inspire, direct and lead students towards

achievement of shared objective. School leader firstly has to group together all of his followers,

and then secondly he should give directions to each member about how to perform the work, and

2

finally he should empower them to do the required task so they could freely reach to given

objectives.

The researcher deemed it to assess the student’s organization of Central Philippine State

University Candoni Campus with the end view of determining their contribution to the

development of the students in line of the school’s mission, vision and institutional goal.

Theoretical/ Conceptual Framework of the Study

Theory of satisfaction

This study was anchored on Briggs et.al 2008 Yield Shift Theory of satisfaction as cited

by Sangco et. al. (2019) where it explain that individuals may hold many goals, ranging from

fundamental goals to scientific discovery for self-actualization, human cognitive resources are

limited, and so cannot assess all individual’s goals simultaneously. Yield Shift Theory provides

explanation for many satisfaction phenomena like goal attainment effect. This means individual

feel satisfied on attainment of a desired state or outcome. They feel dissatisfied when the desired

state or outcome is throated. Another is confirmation effects. This explain that individuals feel

satisfied when outcomes are lower than expectation or desire the disconfirmation effects.

This theory and the variables said to the study has significant relationship that every

variables will be able to identify and determine their importance. Thus, Yield Shift Theory will

explain its satisfaction of the variables and to give clarification to the study. Theoretical

contribution will help the researcher to have better understanding of stakeholder studying towards

school organization.

Definition of Terms

In order to understand certain terms in this study, conceptual and operational

definitions are hereby provided:

Enhancement program. Conceptually, enhancement program is designed to equip

students with the generic skills and world knowledge essential for young leaders. (Lopes&

Tormento, 2015).

Operationally, it refers to the students organization enhancement program that they should

be undergo trainings in terms of leadership, benchmarking to develop self-awareness and

interpersonal relationship this would be the best way to empower multicultural aspects.

Organization. Conceptually, Organization happens when people work together to

accomplish some desired end state or goal. It can happen through intentionally designed activity,

spontaneous improvisation, or some combination of the two, but it always depends upon

coordinated effort. (Popowa-Nowak, 2015).

In this study, these are the different active organization of the school like, Future leaders

of Philippines, Supreme Student Government, Extension Society and Animal Science Society.

Performance. Conceptually, performance defined as the act or process of performing a

task, an action, etc. It consist of effectiveness and efficiency as an indicator of the resources that

were consumed to reach the level of achievement. (Tatjana Samsonowa, 2012).

Satisfaction. Conceptually, a state of satisfaction or dissatisfaction is a subjective feeling

and is a results of specific experiences of individual perceptions and emotions. This satisfaction or

dissatisfaction reflects a feeling connected with the completed or unfulfilled expectations in

relation to a particular product or service. The satisfaction felt by the client, is associated with

the experience of his positive impressions, and conversely will be linked to dissatisfaction with

the lack of positive incentives. (Biesok G, Wyród-Wróbel, 2017).

In this study, it is the level of satisfaction of the stakeholders to be determine by the

researcher, if they satisfied of the school officers or leaders as to their performance is concern.

School programs. Conceptually, school programs are extracurricular activities of the

school. To be part of non-formal curriculum and they range from visits to different settings

and institutions, school exchanges, voluntary work, and student organizations to student clubs

and projects of the school. They may take place after and during school programs and both in and

out of school buildings. (K.B. Bartkus, 2012).

In this study, the term describe the different programs of Central Philippines State

University - Candoni campus like acquaintance party, charter day, University Week, extension

programs and Local Convention.

School teacher. Conceptually, They Professional develop and collaborated with other

teachers with strategies for building educators’ capacity for effective teaching, particularly in a

profession where demands are changing and expanding. They used approaches professionally

(e.g., workshops, conferences) being relatively effective because they typically connected to the

challenges of teaching face in their classrooms, and they called heroes of 21st century. (MQ

McShane, 2019).

In this study, this term refers to the faculty teaching in Central Philippines State University-

Candoni Campus who are in one another help to develop student leaders to become more active

and collaborative in terms of implementing school programs.

Stakeholders. Conceptually, stakeholders must be those who have the power to impact an

organization or project in some way. People or small groups with the power to respond to, negotiate

with, and change the strategic future of the organization. (F.Edward, 2010)

In this study, the term used as faculty, students, community leaders/PTCA and LGU

personnel.

Students’ organization. Conceptually, student organizations provide individuals

opportunities to acquire or develop valued communication skills, enable them to learn from others

who have different ethnic backgrounds, and foster care and support for underprivileged

populations among them. Student organizations function as social opportunities for students to

network on college campuses and also serve as a significant link for students to colleges or

universities experiences (Kuk & Banning, 2010).

Operationally, this term is the recognized organization of students of Central Philippines State

University.

CHAPTER II

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

This chapter contains various literature of both foreign and local literature and studies

that will help the study further more elaboration.

Student Organization

In classroom work, students study models and theories related to leadership, analyze cases,

and work in teams (Northouse, 2010), but students appear to thrive when campuses work

holistically and encourage students to engage with the wider university and to practice what they

learned in classrooms through involvement in co-curricular activities or service learning projects

associated with classwork (Lirette & Yest, 2013)

The scope of extracurricular involvement is extraordinarily wide, and various researchers

have developed taxonomies for different categories of student organizations or co-curricular

groups. Dugan (2013) provided a framework for differentiating and naming types of student

groups. For example students could engage in “identity and expression” organizations such as

theatre, arts, or international student, or sports organizations.

College graduates self-reported that leadership roles in extra-curriculars had substantial

impact on their development of leadership skills and interpersonal abilities that enhanced their job

success. Informal, non-academic settings contributed substantially to students’ career skills,

according to their self-reports and ratings of skills (Pascarella & Terenzini, 2015).

There is a large body of literature on the concept of customer’s satisfaction. The growing

importance of studies on customer’s satisfaction is a result of worldwide business competition.

11
CENTRALPHILIPPINE STATE UNIVERSITY
CANDONICAMPUS
Candoni, Negros Occidental
According to (Nicholls et al. 2012), customers are the lifeblood of any organization, be it private

sector business or public sector government and satisfaction is particularly important in relation to

organizations that deliver services rather than goods. In the case of higher educational services, far

fewer studies on customer’s satisfaction have been conducted (Hall, 2011). According to Navarro

et al. (2015), numerous attempts have been made by researchers to define the concept of

satisfaction in relation to services offered in higher education. They acknowledge that satisfaction

is the final state of psychological process. Elliot and Healy (2011) indicated that student’s

satisfaction is a short-term attitude that results from the evaluation of their experience with the

education service received. It should be highlighted that most of the studies on this issue were

carried out within the context of analyzing student’s satisfaction for the main services or the core

business offered by universities. However, pointed out that many higher educational institutions

perform some evaluation on other expects of students experience beyond the assessment of the

quality of teaching and learning. (E. Razinkina, 2018)

Faculty Satisfaction

According to N. Motefakker, 2016, Universities as providers of academic services are of great

importance in any society since the progress of a society depends on its universities and scientific

centers. Therefore, the members of a society seek education in order to develop their society.

The success of all organizations and institutions such as manufacturing or services, profit or

non-profit and governmental or non-governmental organizations is influenced by several factors.

One of the most important factors is considering customer satisfaction for achieving success

especially in school.

12
CENTRALPHILIPPINE STATE UNIVERSITY
CANDONICAMPUS
Candoni, Negros Occidental
The advancement of technology, removal of manufacturing monopoly, providing different

services by universities and institutes and increasing competition have made universities change

their policies from product orientation to student orientation. On the other hand, students as one of

the most important environmental factors effective in the success of the universities are always

looking for the suppliers that provide better services.

Due to the existence of various research and educational service suppliers who provide

relatively equal quality, most students have numerous choices services to make when ordering

their desired services. Under such competitive conditions and due to the uncertainty about the

future, the issue of student satisfaction which guarantees the survival of universities is of particular

importance. Regarding the importance of considering customer. There is only one valid definition

of business goal: customer creation. It is the customer that determines what business is. In

university management industry, the importance of student becomes greater according to the type

of offered services and by taking into consideration the type of close relationship between

organization and the students since students are the only source of income for institutions and

organizations of universities without whom there will be no organization.

Thus, it is necessary that their viewpoints, tastes and desires be completely taken into

consideration from the time of service production to that of service supply to students. Considering

and giving importance to the ideas and beliefs of students leads to the creation of their sense of

belonging and loyalty to university and not only does it create a sense of satisfaction in students

but makes them feel to be a member of the organization. This satisfaction is the key to success of

university. Due to the above reasons, universities compete to take some steps for attracting new

students and gaining the satisfaction of their existent students. In this competitive market, only the

13
CENTRALPHILIPPINE STATE UNIVERSITY
CANDONICAMPUS
Candoni, Negros Occidental
university branch can be more successful that besides coordinating its performance and activities

with the needs and desires of students, gaining their satisfaction and gaining a greater share of the

market increase their own interests and profits (Motevalli et al. 2011).

Student Satisfaction

Students’ satisfaction as a short term attitude, resulting from an evaluation of a students’

educational experiences. It is a positive antecedent of student loyalty and is the result and

outcome of an educational system (Zeithaml, 2011). Again Elliot & Shin define student satisfaction

as students’ disposition by subjective evaluation of educational outcomes and experience.

Therefore, student satisfaction can be defined as a function of relative level of experiences and

perceived performance about educational service during the study period, Carey, et al (2012)

The globalization of education has intensified competition among universities, not only for

local, but also for international students. The elimination of socioeconomic barriers and the

opening of opportunities to connect people more closely in time and space are among the dramatic

benefits associated with globalization (Mavondo et al. 2014). Higher education is adapting to the

context of a globally competitive knowledge economy. At the same time, a global knowledge

society is also developing. It is characterized by rapid social and cultural change, diversity and

contestation (Altbach et al. 2011). Universities have always been affected by international trends

and to a certain degree, operated within a broader international community of academic

institutions, scholars, and research. Yet the reality of the 21st century has magnified the importance

of the global context. The rise of English as the dominant language of scientific communication is

unprecedented.
