The significance:

As you can see, we accentuate the mano po tradition which still lives on among
traditional Filipino families, regardless of social class, and it is still something that young
kids are taught to do by their parents. This is also a way to emphasize that this Filipino
culture can be preserved if Filipino keep on practicing and maintaining this traditional
gesture. On the other hand, at the lower left, you can see two people, wearing Patadyong
and Barong Tagalog, demonstrating the most popular folk dance which is Tinikling.
Today, the students use this as folk-dance curricula in schools which also serves as an
aerobic exercise for physical education classes that also help expand physical
movements such as hand coordination, foot speed, and also their rhythm. In that way,
if the youth today will keep on perpetuating this traditional folk-dance, it will definitely
provide the new generation a wider perspective for the development, promotion and
preservation of the nation’s art.
We all know that the culture of the Philippines is widespread and they are known
to be hospitable people who loves to have a good time. The Filipinos are family oriented,
well mannered, and often religious with an appreciation for art, music, and food. This
often includes getting together to sing, dance, eat, and celebrate. Filipinos values their
traditions and culture, such as the bayanihan. Filipinos commemorate it to show their
outpouring of community spirit, as people give their all to the common good, without
expecting recognition or personal gain.
