McDonald's Restaurant Tour Reflection

In the following paper I will discuss what I have learned and

experienced during the McDonald’s tour. When we heard that we're going
to have a restaurant tour in McDonalds, excitement and anticipation
rushed into me. All of us were really thrilled about the announcement.
It was something that I've always wanted since I was young, a tour in a
restaurant. In the past, I remember when we usually eat at every
restaurant, I was too eager to know what's happening behind that kitchen
door? Who are the people that made this amazing and delicious food? And,
is it kind of similar to cooking/restaurant games? So, when it finally
suggested to be one of our requirements, I've never been more excited
in my life.
I actually arrived early that day. I joined some of my classmates
that were already there while waiting for the others. A moment after,
the staff asked us to stay and wait on the second floor. Gladly, it is
where the Playplace situated. On the other hand, the unfortunate part
is that the small playground for kids no longer applies to us, and will
definitely not going to fit in there. After a while, we proceeded in the
party area, where the lecture and cheese burger making going to happen.
Before everything, I will give a brief background of the
restaurant. McDonald's is considered the world’s largest restaurant
chain serving 64 million customers daily. McDonald’s are probably the
most pervasive fast food chain on the globe. It was founded by Ray Kroc
in 1955. There are best known for its hamburgers, cheeseburgers and
french fries, they also feature chicken products, breakfast items, soft
drinks, milkshakes, wraps, and desserts. Also, McDonald's just only
started in Roxas City, Capiz last December 7, 2018 with Korina Sanchez-
Roxas as the Franchise Director.

Before the lecture started, we had an entertaining and engaging

icebreaker which rendered it even more lively and exciting. They also
questioned us what observations and expectations we had throughout
this restaurant tour. Funny how my other classmates replied that they
were just hoping for a single employee who works there, some were even
planning to discover McDonalds's secret ingredient that made it even
more interesting. The speaker or managing director continued the talk
going as long as the entire room is packed while I was amused with how
he spoke every word. It was impressively articulate and natural; he
can catch your attention just by speaking. I was really amazed by him.
Anyway, the whole presentation turned out to be fine and well-
informative. In the lecture, they explained McDonald’s strict
standards which they care about the quality of their food, having
accurate and fast service, considering cleanliness and valuing their
customers money. “This is the philosophy of each and every McDonald’s
restaurant anywhere in the world”. They discussed the origin and
history as well, in which it imparted us some interesting facts and
valuable information about McDonald’s including the food safety and
sanitation. “McDonald’s ensure effective procedures in delivering food
that is free of harmful bacteria, viruses, chemicals, or foreign
objects that could cause our customers to become sick” Good to know
how concerned and secured they are in regards to maintaining nutrient
levels in food ingredients and formulating foods with nutritional
profiles that contribute to consumer interest in healthful diets which
it was explained by the managing director. Most importantly, the right
procedure and approach on preparing raw food/items on a regular basis.
There’s so much insights I learned about this presentation. Moreover,
McDonald’s Philippines newest offering: “Flavors of Japan” will be
soon here in Roxas, that was according to the manager. How exciting
that they will offer Japanese-themed treats which they will include my
favorite Strawberry Sakura Float, Nori Shake Shake Fries, Ebi Tempura
Burger and Teriyaki Samurai Burger.
The next agenda was the most awaited, the kitchen tour. When we
lined up and proceeded to the kitchen, I saw how high-tech they are.
The tour guide also taught us how a burger patty is fried on the
kitchen area, as well as separate deep-frying area for chicken and
pies and separate cooking area for french fries. We saw how they
filtered their water in the pump room and the tour guide gave us an
inside glimpse of the drive-thru. We even get a chance to enter inside
the walk-in freezer although they actually call it the north pole. It
was overall fun actually because some of us volunteer to have some
experience in making a sundae and we got to share and enjoy an ice
cream during the tour. After the tour, I appreciate how much system
was in place just to make us ready to enjoy quick and warm food. Also,
the fact that McDonald's still provides importance to the safety and
welfare of all its workers and consumers Our tour guide, was extremely
accommodating and made sure everyone's experience was relaxing and
wholly enjoyable. It surprised me that this tour was really a big help
for me because the learning that I got will somehow help me in my
future career. In order to be in the industry, I need to focus on my
goals and study hard. The experience taught me that I can do both and
I do not have to rule out one or the other. The experience also taught
me that I want to go into an area of industry that allows me to
prepare and present what my skills are. I enjoyed our tour and would
like to see how the act develops and how it is enforced in the future.
Through my connecting experience, I have been able to refine my
professional goal. The experience has allowed me to observe the public
service career path and now I believe it is a path that I want to
take. Overall, it’s great to have this once-in-a-lifetime experience
and eventually, gained a broader knowledge about restaurants.
