I. INTRODUCTION

For conducting a research regarding the title of "Performance of

BSCRIM students in the Mock Criminology Licensure Examination." To

determine the result or it should base on the performance of year levels

in taking mock board examination. It could be the third year or fourth

year level? There has different procedures or measures that are need to

use. For example, the Statistics Method. The Statistics Method are

mathematical formulas, models and that used is statistical analysis of

raw research data. In statistics there has also a numbers, counting and

solving, so, it can help us determine how many year level there is in

taking an examination. These are also used in taking the formula for the

results of performance of students.

This research is necessary to determine the results or to solve the

problems regarding the title that has been stated above. All necessary

procedures in conducting research or study is always important because

there's possibilities that your research will not work, will be destroyed or

the readers difficulty to analyze what you're talking about. Most

researchers, they will take or work for it seriously to achieve a good

result of their study. The advantages of this study is that you learn a lot

of strategies in how to solve some problems and also the different

methods on how to use it properly.

2
The effect of this research is to determine how many students who

will pass the mock board examination. How many third year will pass

rather than fourth year level. To know the label of knowledge of the

students if they are ready for taking the (CLE) Criminology Licensure

Examination someday. If it has been certify, regarding to the result of

their performance, for example that the percentage of Mock Examination

is 80% of Third year students will pass than the Fourth year is 20% that is

equivalent to 100% in all. The instructors or the head office of

Criminology Department will instruct the Fourth years that they are not

yet already to take the board examination and also they will not allow to

graduate in their university. In this study or research to know or

determine the knowledge of the BSCRIM students if they are also already

in taking a (CLE) Criminology Licensure Examination.

This study deals with the performance of BSCRIM students in the

mock Criminology Licensure Examination (CLE). It also describes the

relationship between such performance and their level of confidence in

getting high scores in the mock Criminology Licensure Examination.

Specifically, the study answers the following;

1. What is the level of performance of the BSCRIM students in the

mock Criminology Licensure Examination along:

a. Criminal Sociology and Ethics;
b. Correctional Administration;
c. Criminal Jurisprudence;
d. Criminalistics;
e. Law Enforcement Administration; and
f. Crime Detection and Investigation?

3
2. What is the level of confidence of the BSCRIM students in getting

high scores in the mock Criminology Licensure Examination along;

a. Criminal Sociology and Ethics;

b. Correctional Administration;
c. Criminal Jurisprudence;
d. Criminalistics;
e. Law Enforcement Administration; and
f. Crime Detection and Investigation?

3. What is the degree of relationship between the level of their

performance in the mock Criminology Licensure Examination and the

level of their cofidence in getting high scores in the same examination

along:

a. Criminal Sociology and Ethics;

b. Correctional Administration;
c. Criminal Jurisprudence;
d. Criminalistics;
e. Law Enforcement Administration; and
f. Crime Detection and Investigation?

II. METHODOLOGY

II.1 INTRODUCTION

This chapter shall discuss the research methods available for the

study and what is applicable for it to use in response for the statement of

the problem in the title stated above. Which is directed towards the

ability of performance of BsCrim students in the Mock Criminology

Licensure Examination (CLE). Thus this part of the study specifies the

method of research used; Quantitative Data research and Qualitative

Data research.

II.2 RESEARCH DESIGN

4
The respondents for this study were over 52 students number of

examinees in taking the Mock Criminology Licensure Examination are the

BSCRIM students at PHINMA-University of Pangasinan. The 52

respondents for this study were from two different year level (3rd year or

4th year) they included both BsCrim students. But the numbers of

examinees that stated above will not take a mock examination.

Causal-comparative Research because this type of research, like

correlational research, seeks to explore relationships among variables.

However, it is intended to determine the cause for or the consequences

of differences between groups of people. If should be the degree of

relationship between third year or fourth year. The basic causal-

comparative approach is to begin with a noted difference between two

groups and then to look for possible causes for, or consequences of, this

difference.
How is causal comparative research differentiated from

experimental research? In experimental research, the group membership

variable is manipulated; in causal-comparative research, the group

differences already exist.

III.3 SOURCES OF DATA

The sources where I gathered all my data is from the basic types of

Research Methods. I gathered from some kind of books that related for

my research or study. Also in internet to searched the kind of Research

Methods that can help me to plan or gathered a information regarding

from my study in titled of Performance of BSCRIM students in the Mock

5
Criminology Licensure Examination. To know what data should to be

used. The most important sources of data was came from the

respondents (BSCRIM student) to know their performance in mock

examination regarding of their course.

IV.4 DATA GATHERING TOOLS

I created a test papers instrument that was used here as part of

larger study investigating the use of Mock Examination for the BSCRIM

students. The test was developed based on the performance of the test

that was given to the students. To determine the knowledge and

performance of taking mock Criminology Licensure Examination (CLE).

The validity of the test was until they finish aswering the test and to

know the whole result if those students performance was developed.

V.5 STATISTICAL TOOLS

Frequency Count - a percentage frequency distribution is a

display of data that specifies the percentage of observations that exist

for each data point or grouping of data points. It is a particularly useful

method of expressing the relative frequency of survey responses and

other data. Many times, percentage frequency distributions are displayed

as tables or as bar graphs or pie charts.

The process of creating a percentage frequency distribution

involves first identifying the total number of observations to be

represented; then counting the total number of observations within each

data point or grouping of data points; and then dividing the number of

observations within each data point or grouping of data points by the

6
total number of observations. The sum of all the percentages

corresponding to each data.

Weighted Mean - A weighted mean is a kind of average. Instead

of each data point contributing equally to the final mean, some data

points contribute more “weight” than others. If all the weights are equal,

then the weighted mean equals the arithmetic mean (the regular

“average” you’re used to). Weighted means are very common in

statistics, especially when studying populations.

The technical formula for the weighted mean. In simple terms, the

formula can be written as:

Weighted mean = Σwx/Σw
Σ = the sum of (in other words…add them up!).
w = the weights.
x = the value.
To use the formula:
1. Multiply the numbers in your data set by the weights.
2. Add the numbers in Step 1 up. Set this number aside for a

moment.
3. Add up all of the weights.
4. Divide the numbers you found in Step 2 by the number you

found in Step 3.

Correlation Coefficient - are used in statistics to measure how

strong a relationship is between two variables. There are several types of

correlation coefficient: Pearson’s correlation (also called Pearson’s R) is a

correlation coefficient commonly used in linear regression. If you’re

starting out in statistics, you’ll probably learn about Pearson’s R first. In

fact, when anyone refers to the correlation coefficient, they are usually

talking about Pearson’s.

61-70:Low Level of Performance(L)
Below 60:Very Low of Performance(VL)

The resulted of level of performance BSCRIM Students in the Mock

Criminology Licensure Examination that stated above in Table 1 was Very

Low of Performance(VL) as you can see the different subjects mean score

was took by students is not the same to the other subjects. Also the

numbers of examinees we have a 52 enrolled examinees but in different

subjects was not consumed by 52 examinees. In others word or in over

all the level of performance of BSCRIM Students was Very Low Level of

Performance(VL). If you total the all mean score the result was 44.76

which Very Low of Performance. That the performance of students

was not proper prepared of taking Criminology Licensure

Examination(CLE) because of total performance.

2.50-3.49:Moderate Level of Confidence(M)
1.50-2.49:Low Level of Confidence(L)
1.00-1.49:Very Low of Confidence(VL)

The resulted of Level of Confidence of BSCRIM students that stated above

in Table 2 was High Level of Confidence(H). The number of examinees the

same with Table 1. The mean are different and the same explanation on

Table 1 discussion. In Level of Confidence the Law Enforcement

Administration, Correctional Administration and Criminal Sociology and

Ethics are the same Level which is High Level the of Confidence(H). The

remaining 3 subjects was Moderate Level of Confidence(M). In short if we

total the all mean, the equivalent Level of Confidence of BSCRIM students

was 3.67 that was stated above Table 2 which High Level of

Confidence(H).

VII. CONCLUSION
As the result stated above the BSCRIM students at PHINMA-University of

Pangasinan in taking a Mock Criminology Licensure Examination. These

students was not yet already of taking Criminology Licensure

9
Examination(CLE) someday. Because of they performance or scores in

different subjects are so very low in others word they failed test in all

subjects. They will not reached the passing scores. So, the instructors or

head office of Criminology Department was instructed the students that

they were not allowed to take a Criminology Licensure Examination(CLE)

after they graduated in their university or they were not allowing to

graduate.

VIII. RECOMMENDATION
The BSCRIM students was need to practice into anlyzing and

comprehension. That should help them to understand the words or

questions that was given to them. It can easily answered the questions

that was on test papers, if they pratice themselves into reading

comprehension and analyzing. They need to study hard and don't forget

what they was learned in their previous subjects.
