DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

As Jonathan Ive, easily the best-known proponent of simplicity in modern design,

says:
“Simplicity is not the absence of clutter, that’s a consequence of simplicity. Simplicity
is somehow essentially describing the purpose and place of an object and product.”

DESIGN GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

 To study the behavior of the travelers in TPLEX
 To manipulate the behavior of the travelers without restricting their options
 To provide spaces that they need to fulfill their experience in using the gas
station’s facilities
 To design an industrial building/structure that has a less effect on the
environment

DESIGN CONCEPT
MINIMALIST ARCHITECTURE + GREEN ARCHITECTURE
Minimalist Architecture is known for it’s simple, limited and plain materials. While
based on LEED standard (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design
standards), a ‘green building’ should be energy efficient, could conserve water,
recyclable and reusable materials.
The application of the said concept is to provide a design that will affect the
behavior of the travelers to not cause distractions. And to design a gas station but with
the considerations on the toxic gas that it will produce that will eventually harm the
people and the environment.
The two (2) main gasses that burning gasoline produce are the carbon
monoxide and carbon dioxide. It causes major air pollution. Trees are the best
absorber of the said gasses. One big tree can provide enough oxygen for four (4)
people. Which the proposed landscape will provide.
To make the proposed gas station ‘green’ is to consider the application of the
following:
SOLAR PANELS
To take advantage the open field location of the proposed gas station,
installation of solar panels will also reduce the production of carbon dioxide.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY
Taking full advantage of seasonal changes by orienting the building. And by
the proper layout of the spaces.
FIRE RESISTIVE GLASS
Fire resistive glass prevents the spread of fire and smoke; in addition it also
stops radiant and conductive heat transfer so that objects on the protected side do not
get hot enough to spontaneously combust.
FORM CONCEPT

‘JERRY CAN’ is the name of the container of the gasoline. The color of the
container determines the type of fuel inside. Red for petrol, yellow for diesel and blue
for kerosene. The materials used to produce this kind of container was can, now
plastic has been used to manufacture this container.
