Introduction:
After comparing various, ethical decision-making models, I have found Holly Stadler’s
1986 model to be the most impactful. The model, which emphasizes moral principles, values
autonomy and beneficence (Cottone & Claus, 2000) which are two values that I believe are
critically important to ethical-decision making. Additionally, I appreciate that the 10-step model
includes phases such as consulting with colleagues and testing the course of action before
implementation. Such steps allow the practitioner to weed out potential barriers and road blocks
of the course of action before they arise. The model is well organized and ends with an
