Dear School Administrator:

Thank you for considering my request to be a teacher in your school district. My name is Taylor Martens
and I graduated High School at Chester Area in Chester, SD. I am currently a Senior at Dakota State
University and will be graduating with a degree in Elementary Education. I will also be getting a minor in
both Reading and Technology with my graduation in May of 2020. DSU has offered me multiple
opportunities to observe and interact in the classroom and after having these experiences I cannot wait
to start my journey as a teacher.

I had so many wonderful teachers who made an impact on my life and my education. I am hoping to be
able to be the inspiration and motivation for other students to learn and enjoy school. Something that I
think is so important is to build a relationship with your students. If you want them to feel welcomed
and comfortable to make mistakes and grow you have to first get to know them. This is something that
was demonstrated to me when I was a student and it is something that I want to carry over into my
teaching.

I am so excited to start my journey as a teacher and I hope I have the opportunity to make an impact in
