NARRATIVE REPORT ON 1ST

QUARTER NATIONWIDE SIMULTANEOUS
EARTHQUAKE DRILL (NSED)

On February 21, 2019 at about 2:00 PM, Villa Elementary School teachers and
students led by Mrs. Glowila P. Flores Head Teacher 1 conducted Simulation Exercise
in line with the 2019 1st Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill.
Earthquake drills and exercises are extremely important part of preparedness plan
because they teach every individual how to respond to the complications of an actual
earthquake and help evaluate how well all parts of emergency plan work together and
how well every personnel have been trained.

This activity seeks to intensify and level up earthquake preparedness of the

schools and local communities. The activity aims to generate the highest level of
awareness among the public on Disaster Risks Reduction (DRR) Concern and to assess
the capacity level of the school and the community in the eventuality of disasters and
emergencies.

The Villa Elementary School teaching staff conducted the activity last February
21, 2019 at 2:00 o’clock in the afternoon in the classroom and school premises. (Please
see attached pictorials). During the conduct, the four stages of an earthquake drill
were properly followed. The phases of an earthquake drill were demonstrated by the
teachers as per illustrated in the handout. Most of the concerned persons are the
pupils during the conduct. We also identified the hazardous areas and school
buildings that are at risk whenever earthquakes occur in their barangay.
