Intro to Jazz: Lesson 1

The Dm7 chord

Composed by Ron Drotos
To begin our journey into jazz, we'll improvise simple melodies in the RH
while our LH plays and holds a Dm7 (D minor 7th) chord. Remember to
keep a steady beat and don't try to play anything complicated at first. For
inspiration, listen to the Miles Davis recording of 'So What' on the album
'Kind of Blue', especially Miles' trumpet solo and Bill Evans' piano solo.
