TITLE: THE 4C’s AND STRATEGIES IN TEACHING CONTEMPORARY ISSUE

FRAMEWORK:

The CCSS (Common Core State Standards) integrated the framework of 21 st


century education prepared by The Partnership for 21 st Century Skills (P21). P21 (2006)
advocated integrating core academic knowledge, critical thinking and social skill in
teaching and learning to help student master the multi-dimensional abilities that are
required in the 21st century. These skills can help students succeed in their future
careers by supporting 21st century learning system to improve outcomes. Integrating
CCSS with p21 can help to complement the 3R’s (core academic content mastery) and
4C’s (critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity).

ISSUES:

Difficulties on developing the 21st century skill of the learner

RESPONDENTS:

The respondents of the study are the Contemporary Issues Teacher and the
selected grade 10 students of Teresa National High School having 20 respondents each
section.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:

This study aimed to determine the Teaching Strategies in teaching Contemporary


Issue.

Specifically, it aimed to determine the:

1. Profile of the respondents in terms of:


1.1 Age;
1.2 Gender;
1.3 Educational Attainment; and
1.4 Monthly Family Income?
2. What are the 21st century skills of the learners in terms of:
2.1 Creativity;
2.2 Critical Thinking;
2.3 Collaboration; and
2.4 Communication?

TITLE: LOCALIZED LEARNING MATERIAL IN CONTEMPORARY ISSUE

LEGAL BASIS:

Article XIV, Section 14 of the 1987 Philippine Constitution which states that
“The State shall foster the preservation, enrichment, and dynamic evolution of a Filipino
national culture based on the principle of unity in diversity in a climate of free artistic and
intellectual expression”
Article XIV, Section 5. (1), which states that “The State shall take into account
development of educational policies and programs.”
ISSUES:

Students having a hard time generate their idea on the generic issue writen in the
module.

RESPONDENTS:

The respondents of the study were the selected grade 10 students of Teresa
National High School from the 10 section aging from 15 to 19 years old having 20
respondents each section.

This study aimed to localize learning materials in contemporary issue intended

for enhancing skills in 21st century.

Specifically, it sought answers to the following question.

1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of:

1.1 Gender;

1.2 Age;

1.3 Monthly family income; and

1.4 Year level?

2. What is the 21st century skills of learners needs localized learning materials from

the respondents with respect to:

2.1 Communication;

2.2 Collaboration;

2.3 Critical thinking; and

2.4 Creativity?

3. Is there a significance difference on localizing module in the 21 st century skills of

the respondents in terms of their profile?
