Statement of Inquiry: Author’s choices depict how transformation of relationships can


impact people’s quality of life

Task: Write an Interview Script

Imagine you are a journalist. Your organization has sent you to interview Beverley Naidoo.
Write the script including the interview questions and Naidoo’s responses.

Ensure your questions are in line with the statement of Inquiry Your questions should
focus on:

1. Author's experiences and how they influenced the writing of the story
2. Using alternative perspectives between Mugo and Mathew
3. The historical context of Mau Mau and the Kenyan state of emergency
4. Author's focus on the relationship between the white settlers and the natives
5. What the author hopes to achieve

Ensure you do the following:

1. Follow the format of an interview


2. Your interview should have an Introduction, Body and Conclusion
3. Ensure your questions address the statement of inquiry
4. The questions MUST address issues raised in 'Burn My Heart'
5. The questions should build on the interviewee's responses
6. Do NOT use stage directions
7. Use Language appropriately (Register) You will be assessed on criteria B, C and
D Duration: 3 days
