Let me define what is BPO? Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) is the


contracting of non-primary business activities and functions to a third-party provider.
BPO services include payroll, human resources (HR), accounting and customer/call
center relations. BPO is also known as information technology enabled services (ITES).
Philippines is one of the centers BPO industry in the world which brought as a large
revenue growth, Productivity improvement, Focus on core business areas, Sophisticated
technology at lower cost etc.

After 5 years working in a BPO industry you will see yourself able to focus on
what matters. You can work around the clock, you can simplify project management,
and you can simplify work relationships. Efforts are more targeted but lots of struggle
that might prone to security risks since age of data protection are one of the most
critical part in this industry.

Therefore, if you want to be part of this highly competitive industry you must be
aware what core values imposed of the company so you could have guidelines and
purpose in everything you do and you could easily adopt their cultural difference as
might you encountered different clients as well as you could simply cope up on matter
how complex the situation in the fields is. Furthermore, preparing yourself to be more
flexible in shift schedule especially graveyard. But out of these challenges at the end of
the day you delivered and touch lives of an individual (customers) and you made them
satisfied.

Every individual have their own professionalism and how we want to be look like.
But, what is the key to build a strong foundation of developing our professional image?
Professionalism is based on of attributes which is the Appearance and Personal
behavior. This attributes is really important for ourselves to have growth in career. In
the first place we have done many practices since we were in the governance of school.
We learned how to manage our own appearance in terms of dress up formally, facial
expressions, confidence etc. At the same time, we also know what personal behavior is.
That is the time we learned core values and attitudes, how we interact people, and how
we build relationship to people. That is the first step line to build our personal image
before we touch the line of business world.

In the business environment, you must understand what constitutes a


professional image in order to effectively meet the standards and expectations you set
for yourself. In addition, you must recognize the importance of a professional image
and how this affects self-confidence, interaction with peers, customers, and supervisors,
and ultimate success in your career mobility. Professional image can be viewed from
two major perspectives: Appearance and Personal behavior. In the area of
appearance, you want to develop your ability to dress appropriately and present
yourself in an attractive manner. In the area of personal behavior, you want to develop
your communication skills and your skills in the use of proper manners and etiquette as
well as recognize the importance of appropriate personal behavior. And that’s the right
time that you should identify resources for image development so you are aware of and
can maintain a professional image throughout your career.

In that way, developing our professional image will possibly grow thru challenges
inside or outside corporate world. We should understand the different kind of situations,
most of all we need to be more brave when we are interacting different kind of people.
Be professional when we talk in terms of good conducting of core values and behavior.
No matter what kind of attitudes the world has, the important is do your best to gain
professional individual successfully. Sometimes, we will encounter bad situation
especially in a corporate world, there is a time that people around you (co-worker)
showing bad attitudes or may other say crab-mentality. And sometimes, the superior is
not good to you, the work are very messy. But be brave and professional in that way.
no matter how hard the situation, no matter how rude they are, always remember that
being educated and having professional personality don’t give feedback to a negative
comments of the others, we may have a positive feedback in a good way because the
key to success is having a professional personality that can helps us and also around us
to be more productive.
