Royal Welcome
Baby Pillow
Stripes and bunnies and bears, oh my! These
sweet-themed pillows add the finishing touch
to baby’s nursery. Crochet yours to go with
colors of your baby’s room. For coordinating
cube cozy and bunting designs see patterns
LW3649 and LW3651.
NOTES
Pillow cover is made up of 8 Striped Squares,
4 each for Front and Back pieces. Each Square
is worked with A and a contrasting color CC.
For Version 1, Front and Back pieces are
made from 1 Square each from 4 different
contrasting colors. For Version 2, Front and
Back pieces are made from 2 Squares each
of 2 different contrasting colors. Squares
are arranged with stripes perpendicular to
adjacent Squares. Each Square begins and
ends with a contrasting color stripe. Carry
colors not in use loosely alongside of work.
SAFETY NOTE
Pillows pose a choking and smothering
hazard. Always display them away from baby;
never place in crib.
PILLOW
Striped Squares
Make 8; 2 each with A and B, C, D or E as
contrasting color CC for Version 1 OR 4 each
with A and C or F as contrasting color CC for
Version 2
With 4mm [US G-6] hook and CC, ch 33.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch
across – 32 sts.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across.
Row 3-4: Ch 1, turn, change to A and sc in
each st across.
Row 5-38: Repeat Rows 3-4, alternating CC
and A, end with 2 rows in CC. Fasten off.
Square Edging
Round 1: With right side facing, join A in any
corner st of Square, ch 1, sc 32 sts evenly
spaced along each side of Square, slip st in
first sc to join.
Repeat Edging around each Square.
Arrange 4 different contrasting Squares into
16” [40.5 cm] Square for Version 1. Arrange
2 Squares from each contrasting color,
alternating colors, for Version 2. Turn each
Square 90 degrees from previous Square so
stripes are perpendicular to each other. With A,
whipstitch 4 Squares together for Front piece.
Repeat for Back piece.
Edging
Round 1: With right side facing, join A in
any corner st of Front piece, ch 1, sc 65 sts
evenly spaced along each side of Front piece,
working 3 sc in each corner, slip st in first sc
to join.
Repeat Edging around Back piece.
Hold Front and Back pieces together with
wrong sides together. Working through both
layers, sc Front and Back pieces together
around 3 sides. Insert pillow form. Sc last side
closed. Fasten off.
Weave in ends.
Sew a button in each corner and in center of
each side along top edge of Cozy for Pennant
Bunting.
PENNANT BUNTING
Make 6
With 3.5mm [US E-4] hook and A, ch 24.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch
across – 23 sts.

Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across.
Decrease Row: Ch 1, turn, skip first st, sc in
each st to last 2 sts, sc2tog – 21 sts.
Next Row: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across.
Repeat last 2 rows until 3 sts remain.
Last Row: Ch 1, turn, skip first st, sc2tog.
Fasten off.
Edging Round: With 3.5mm [US E-4] hook,
join A in first ch along opposite edge of
foundation ch, ch 8, slip st in same st for
button loop, sc in each ch across, ch 8, slip
st in same st for button loop, turn to work
alongside edge, sc 20 sts evenly spaced along
edge to last st, 3 sc in point, turn to work
along opposite side edge, sc 20 sts evenly
spaced along opposite side edge, slip st to
first st. Fasten off.
Bunny or Bear Head
Make 6 Bunnies or Bears; 2 each in color
of choice
With 3.25 [US D-3] hook, ch 4.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, 2 sc in next
ch, sc in last ch – 4 sts.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in first st, 2 sc in next 2
sts, sc in last st – 6 sts.
Row 3: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in next st, sc in next 4
sts, 2 sc in last st – 8 sts.
Row 4: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in next st, sc in next 6
sts, 2 sc in last st – 10 sts.
Rows 5-7: Sc in each st across.

Row 8: Ch 1, turn, skip first st, sc in each st to For Bunny, stitch triangle shape at top of
last 2 sts, sc2tog – 8 sts. muzzle and fill in. Shape muzzle by making a
vertical stitch with sewing thread at bottom
Row 9: Ch 1, turn, sc in next 2 sts, [sc2tog] center and pull tightly.

For Bear, nose is located in middle of muzzle;
Row 10: Ch 1, turn, skip first st, sc in next 3 stitch triangle shape and fill in.

Embroider eyes on face. Sew Ears in place.
Edging Round: Sc evenly spaced around Sew a Bunny or Bear Head in center of
edges to first st, slip st in first sc. Fasten off. each Pennant. Sew Bunting onto pillow top
using sewing thread in swag formation or as
Bunny Ears desired, leaving individual pennants loose.
Make 2 for each Bunny
With same color and 3.25 [US D-3] hook, ch 5. Abbreviations
Round 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and next A, B, C = Color A, B, C; CC = contrasting color;
2 ch, 5 hdc in last ch, turn to work opposite ch = chain; mm = millimeters; sc = single
edge of foundation ch, sc in next 3 ch, slip st crochet; st(s) = stitch(es).

Make 2 for each Bear

FINISHING
Refer to photograph while finishing. Sew Muzzle
to Bunny or Bear face using sewing thread.
