substances having uniform
appearance
 the substances are mixed

substance
 is a mixture consisting a solvent
and a solute
 Examples: water and vinegar,
water and soy sauce, water and
salt, dextrose, rubbing alcohol,
wine, soft drink, and seawater
Solvent is the substance that
dissolves another substance.
Solute is the substance dissolved by
the solvent.
Most substances can be dissolve
in water, which makes it a
universal solvent.
