1. The average score in the final examination in College Algebra at ZCSPC is known to be 80 with a
standard deviation of 10. A random sample of 39 students was taken from this year's batch and it was
found that they have a mean score of 84. Test at α=0.05. Is this an indication that this year's batch
performed better in College Algebra than the previous batches?
2. A ten randomly selected oil wells in a large field produced 21, 19, 20, 22, 24, 21, 19, 22, 22, and 20
barrels of crude oil per day. Is this enough evidence to conclude that the oil wells are not producing
an average of 22.5 barrels of crude oil per day? Test at 0.01 level of significance.
